Welcome to the Jungle: The Palm Pre

This year's CES has already begun pouring in the tech treats, and one I was particularly excited for was Palm's.

This year's CES has already begun pouring in the tech treats, and one I was particularly excited for was Palm's. I wasn't let down: Palm announced its newest smartphone, the Palm Pre, with soft lines and a gorgeous OS.

The new phone has a multitouch touch screen, full Internet browser, slides out to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard, but the best part — and what actually sets it apart from the iPhones, the BlackBerrys, the Androids — is the wireless charger, the "Touchstone."

No pricing has been revealed yet, but the phone should be available in the early part of this year; if the Pre also comes with competitive pricing (around $200), then look for this to be a worthy rival in the smartphone game.

Chills, Multiplying: Palm Centro Now Coming in Electric Blue!

Interested in getting a cell phone to match your wardrobe, like Ms.

Interested in getting a cell phone to match your wardrobe, like Ms. Blair Waldorf?

You're in luck if you wear a lot of blue: Palm is releasing its Centro in a new color, electric blue, which I'm totally digging (although personally, I'd call that metallic cornflower, but that's just me).

There's even a rumor that it could be as cheap as $49 (note: It is priced at $70 with a two year contract), which is great if you want a smartphone for less coin.

It's releasing this Friday, the 11th. . . wait, wait, isn't something else happening that day?

Love and Gadgetry in 27 Dresses

When I saw 27 Dresses this past weekend, I thought I was in for some light chick-flick action, but my geekiness was indulged when James Marsden sweetly gave Katherine Heigl's character a Palm 755p to replace her old worn-out date book.

When I saw 27 Dresses this past weekend, I thought I was in for some light chick-flick action, but my geekiness was indulged when James Marsden sweetly gave Katherine Heigl's character a Palm 755p to replace her old worn-out date book. With Valentine's Day coming up, my head was swimming with geek love and the romantic possibilities of gadget gifts as I hope my boyfriend takes notice. I mean, really, is there anything more romantic than getting a device that makes your life easier? So you can spend more freed-up time with the giver, of course. Oh, and for more 27 Dresses gift-giving, check out their website to download a widget for quizzes, photos, and other fun stuff from the movie!

If you were on the fence about the teeny and chic Palm Centro, here's some news that may help your decision—the Centro is now available in pink!

Aside from the fact that it's now available in a fun new color, the Centro is great because it fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and is extremely lightweight. Palm's Centro includes a full QWERTY keyboard, touchscreen capability and get this, it only costs $100 with a two-year contract. All these great factors contributed to its spot in geeksugar's January must haves line-up!

The New Palm Centro: Teeny, Chic and Affordable

The new ruby red Palm Centro is certainly one of those see it to believe it devices.

The new ruby red Palm Centro is certainly one of those see it to believe it devices. When I first picked up the Centro, I couldn't get over how small it really is. Unlike other Palm Treos—which feel more like a bulky Blackberry 8700 than anything else, the Centro fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and is extremely lightweight. It includes a full QWERTY keyboard and although the keys aren't as easy to type on as the Treo 750, they're ideal for quick IM's or short emails nonetheless.

Other features include a built-in speaker with loud clear output, an instant on/off music button on the side, camera/video functionality, a full color 2" touchscreen and Google maps with traffic and satellite view—unfortunately, no GPS.

The Centro also comes in onyx black and will run on the Sprint network. Expect it to go on sale mid-October with a price tag of $100 (with a 2-year phone plan). After giving it a test drive, I can't say I'm going to trade-in my iPhone or Pearl anytime soon, but what I can say is that for a smartphone, it provides you with all basic necessities for a fraction of the cost of other devices on the market. Plus it's stylish and super compact!
