If you thought the PSP couldn't get any smaller after the introduction of the PSP Go, you have been mistaken. Called the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (also fondly dubbed the PlayStation Phone), this handset lets you play some of your favorite PlayStation games and make calls to your fellow game lovers. Want to know what's inside? Find out, and tell us what you think about it, after the break.
Which portable gaming console you use is just a matter of preference. I have an iPhone, Nintendo DS, and PSP and find that my DS gets the lion's share of my attention. However, I won't be giving up Patapon and LittleBigPlanet on the PSP, or Plants vs. Zombies, and Words With Friends on my iPhone any time soon. For me, saying one is better than the other is tough since I go to different consoles for different types of games. However, Sony isn't afraid to take a swipe at Apple in its latest ad for the PSP.
In the new ad, Sony takes a direct shot at smartphone gaming, saying that the iPhone (or something resembling an iPhone) is for "texting your grandma and calling your girl," not for playing "big boy" games. I got quite a laugh out of the ad (the kid who stars in it has a huge personality) but wonder if any of you are still using your PSP, or agree with Sony when it says that mobile phones can't compare to the PSP's gaming ability? Check out the ad and tell me your thoughts about how PSP gaming stacks up to that of the iPhone when you read more.
It's true that when Summer hits, there's also a dry spell in the gaming industry. But look on the bright side — once the drought is over, you have so many awesome titles and new accessories to look forward to! You should be outside enjoying the weather anyway. Here are a few games that may keep you occupied this month.
Although a plump little plumber took over much of my game time over the past few weeks, I'm ready for a change of pace. And with this year's E3 on the horizon (along with plenty of gaming announcements), I'm even more excited for June to commence! Pass the time with a few of these games that are sure to keep you occupied all Summer long.
If you're excited for the Prince of Persia movie (and possibly winning a trip to LA to see it for yourself), then you must be just as stoked to play the next installment of the video game series, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Hitting the shelves on May 18, the prince is back for another adventure, but this time he's using the four elements — earth, fire, wind, water — along with time to battle his way through waves of enemies and huge bosses.
The game seems to lean heavily on perfectly timed jump sequences and use some of those Parkour skills — that newly coined action star Jake Gyllenhaal used in the film — to climb up walls and over obstacles, so it should get your heart racing, even though you're sitting still. Check out the two-minute featurette that introduces you to the game, and the team that made it, and tell me — are you picking up Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands next week?
May is finally here! You know what that means? Why, Super Mario Galaxy 2 of course! I'm on pins and needles waiting for my copy to arrive, but that's not the only noteworthy title being released this month — check out a few more games I'd start saving up for now! Any on this list that you're waiting for?
Spring is here, and although I'd love to tell you to stock up on a few of these hot video games and make yourself at home in front of your console, I can't in good conscience — you absolutely must also get outside and enjoy the warmer temps while you can! Check out a few of my picks for April video game releases and go wild . . . just remember to take enough exercise breaks, too!
The Wall Street Journal reported this morning that Sony is launching a new line of gadgets that will be a smartphone, ereader, PSP, netbook mash-up, which seemingly aims to compete with Apple (and everyone else) at the same time.
I'm partial to gadgets that do multiple things at once, but I'm not sure how practical a hybrid of all of these elements would be. Seems to me that Sony is trying to catch up with everyone else, when they really should be trying to out-wow everyone with a new innovation. What do you guys think — would you buy a gadget that claims to be a smartphone, as well as an ereader, gaming console, and netbook mash-up?
The holidays are upon us, which is great for people receiving gifts, but it marks the beginning of a dry spell in the gaming world. Although there isn't much coming out in the way of great releases, there are a few picks that you'll enjoy on your holiday break nonetheless. Check out my favorite December releases here!
I have to admit — I sometimes like watching scary movies and playing creepy video games in the dark! It just adds to the already cringe-inducing nature of the games, and with today being Halloween, it's the perfect time to freak yourself out with one of these six scary video games. Round up a few of your friends and play on . . . if you dare!
