A couple of weeks ago FitSugar let me in on all the cool bags she spotted while visiting the Timbuk2 offices. Of course I was most excited to hear about the tech bags. While a good majority of Timbuk2's messenger bags and backpacks already come with built-in laptop sleeves, there are also bags designed especially for iPads, e-readers, and netbooks. The latest offering from the company is the Vert laptop sleeve ($20). It's made from extremely durable ballistic nylon fabric, is water resistant, and has a handy outside pocket to store items in. And like most of the company's tech bags, it's also on sale right now. Score!
I was all about Incase's Fall color selections when they hit the shop last year, but their new Spring color palette is definitely getting me in the mood for flowers, sundresses, and outdoor activities. New hues of purple, red, and a special gray that's inspired by those Spring showery days are ready to be picked up until the seasons change again. The colors are available on most of their offerings, like the Medium Messenger Bag ($100), the Backpack, as well as laptop and iPhone cases.
Dealing with my yoga mat when I ride to the gym can be a pretty tricky feat. I have a bike basket that I can tie it to but it always throws me off balance. That's why I was really excited to find these messenger bags from Modern Union ($68). The bags were designed by yoga studio owners Stephanie Ofanankis and Belinda Osborne because the partners couldn't find a yoga bag that met their lifestyle needs — lucky me!
First off, I love the textiles they chose — simple, colorful, and modern. Beyond that it's a great bag to take to the gym or use on your days off. The straps on the bottom of the bag keep a yoga mat secure, and I like that there are outside pockets for a water bottle and cell phone. The inside of the bag is roomy enough to carry gym essentials or even a laptop. Inside are a bunch of smaller pockets so things don't get lost, including a key ring holder.
Most importantly these Modern Union bags make commuting on a bike so easy. There's a padded shoulder strap for comfort and a magnetic closure, which is great in case you need to get in and out of your bag quickly if you're stopped at a light. An added bonus is each bag is made out of durable cordura, meaning it won't be ripping, scuffing, or tearing on you anytime soon and it's water resistant.
I'm a big fan of Crumpler bags, so I jumped at the chance to go to the grand opening of the first West Coast Crumpler store right here in San Francisco. Born in Australia, Crumpler bags are functional, versatile, yet still stylish (even more so than rival bag-maker Timbuk2, maybe?). I got a chance to see some cool limited-edition artist series bags, and was pleased to find out I can customize my own online. Check out the new store and some of the awesome bags that line the shelves.
I must admit my current obsession with Marc Jacobs handbags. His designs are decadent and timeless — what more can a girl ask for? My newest crush is this Marc Jacobs Mix Quilted Classic ($795). The smaller shape is perfect for carrying a lighter load and who could resist the chain-link strap? Not I.
I recently scored — and I mean scored — a Hogan bag (for $130!) much like this Oasis Leather Cross Body Bag ($83). I believe every gal should have a vintage, or vintage-inspired brown bag to keep the boho craze going. I'm in love with the creamy color and the giant buckle detail. This is a good bag to take on a shopping excursion because it allows you to be hands-free. If you're not feeling this color, it also comes in red!
This messenger tote may not be a proclaimed laptop bag, but it certainly would be a luxurious way to carry your laptop around. Featured on The Purse Page, this dark brown Lanvin Odeon bag comes with a leather handle and adjustable shoulder strap. Aside from the $2,100.00 price tag, I actually think it'd be a perfect laptop carrier for fall. Do you love it? Leave your comments below!
