15-Inch MacBook Air? Yes, Please

Rumor has it, Apple is testing a 15-inch MacBook Air-like laptop to be released sometime next year.

Rumor has it, Apple is testing a 15-inch MacBook Air-like laptop to be released sometime next year. If size matters to you when it comes to your laptop (of course it does), but you aren't into the smaller 11- or 13-inch screen sizes of the current MacBook Air lineup, this version could be for you.

Although it's unclear whether the laptop will be a MacBook Air or a lighter MacBook Pro (possibly without an optical drive), a bigger screen on an ultralight body would be a welcome addition to business travelers who need more desktop real estate.

New Acme Made Sleeves, Bags For MacBook Pro

The latest iteration of the MacBook Pro lineup was announced yesterday, and already there's a new case that's making me drool. From Acme Made, the Clutch bag and Skinny sleeve can be found exclusively at the Apple Store and fit your 13-inch MacBook Pros and 11- and 13-inch MacBook Airs like a glove. Costing a cool $40, the sleeve is waterproof and shows off your laptop's super slim profile. Setting you back $100 for the Clutch, this bag is made of coated canvas and leather and has room for your laptop, as well as some pens, your phone, and maybe some files (if you've got 'em).
Truth be told, I'm kind of in love with that luscious brown leather. Take a closer look at both items yourself in the gallery!

New MacBook Pros Coming Within Weeks?

According to sources, Apple's line of MacBook Pros will be getting a refresh in the coming weeks.

According to sources, Apple's line of MacBook Pros will be getting a refresh in the coming weeks. New features include a larger glass trackpad, and two hard drives (one SSD dedicated to the OS only), as well as coming in a half pound lighter than previous versions.

Now, the dual hard drives may be a bit confusing at first, but when you think about Apple's push for "instant on" (coming with its latest MacBook Air line, iPads, and iPhones), this dedicated SSD may allow the laptop to boot and wake up from sleep faster than ever before. Also notable: there are said to be five different SKU numbers, which indicate there will be several models to choose from. As you may have guessed, nothing has been confirmed by Apple at this time, but if you're in the market for a new MacBook Pro, you may want to hold off on buying for a few more weeks just in case!

We've been rounding up the best that 2010 had to offer, and you still have time to do the same in our Best of 2010 community group! I've been a big fan of Amazon Prime (especially after this holiday season — I got all of my last-minute shopping done from my desk), and I'm sure all of you have used the online shopping retailer a time or two this year.

The company released its list of most wished-for and best-selling gadgets, games, and goods of 2010 this morning, and the top sellers don't really come as a shock. In the most wished-for category, the third-generation Kindle, 13.3-inch MacBook Pro, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and the LG KP500 Cookie take top billing, while the Microsoft Office 2010 suite was on everyone's holiday list.

Want to know what shoppers actually bought in 2010? It may not come as a surprise. Find out after the break.

Blackbox MacBook Pro Cases Are a Natural Fit

You have plenty of choices when it comes to laptop cases, right?

You have plenty of choices when it comes to laptop cases, right? So what would make you want to go with the Blackbox MacBook Pro Case ($129)? Well, style for one, and two, it's just plain cool.

The Blackbox exterior is made from solid oak for serious protection, while a soft and smooth inner felt lining ensures that your 15- and 13-inch machines stay scratch-free. It will add 1.5 pounds of weight to your book bag, but if you're a light packer (meaning you don't carry everything and your kitchen sink out to your neighborhood coffee joint), you shouldn't notice that much of a difference.

Fall in Love With the Hilarious "Mo" and "Bro" Decals

There's no shortage of hilarious laptop decals out there, especially those taking advantage of the iconic Apple on MacBooks and MacBook Pros.

There's no shortage of hilarious laptop decals out there, especially those taking advantage of the iconic Apple on MacBooks and MacBook Pros. From Lady Gaga to Yoshi, there's an Apple decal for any taste. Now, another hilarious option: MacBook Bros and Mos, black vinyl decals that transform your MacBook's Apple logo into a bro-d out or mustached dude.

Some of my favorites include "The Creepy Uncle" and "The Surrealist." Decals come from a Barcelona-based designer, and are around $10 each.

Ask a Geek Girl: Do I Need a Shell For My MacBook Pro?

Reader kirikiri recently asked this question in the GeekSugar Community: "I just got a new MacBook Pro - do I really need to buy a plastic protective case for the shell?"

While I love these colorful SeeThru cases by Speck ($50), they aren't essential for protecting your new MacBook. However, they may offer some limited protection against spills, scrapes, and scratches, and they come in a variety of bright colors.

If you travel with your computer often, a shell may be a good idea for quickly sliding it in and out of your bag, but many laptop sleeves offer similar protection. Alternatively, you can carry your computer in a laptop bag that offers enough protection to keep it safe.

It's tough to choose my favorite toys, but I'm selecting the ones I rely on and use the very most: MacBook Pro, iPhone 3GS, shuffle, DVR/TV remote and Canon PowerShot (charger pictured here since I used it to, um, take this picture!).

I couldn't work or play online without my laptop, but my iPhone and Shuffle provide the most entertainment and mood-boosting abilities. All I have to do is plug in my headphones to my shuffle and jump on the treadmill and it's party time!

There are some gadgets you just can't live without. If you haven't waxed poetic about your favorite gadgets in our community group yet, then now's the time — take a snapshot of the five gadgets you can't live without and post them there, or just share your top five in the comments below.
