Kindle Cases

If you're one of the many bookworms who bought a new Kindle this year (or are planning to give one as a gift) and have also accessorized with one of Amazon's own Leather Kindle Cases ($35), you may want to listen up: the company is offering refunds to these cases, which may cause problems with your ereader.

Amazon's Kindle case comes in two options — with or without a light — but it's the models coming sans reading light that are having issues. The metal hooks used to keep the ereader in place are causing some Kindles to freeze or reboot randomly, resulting in readers losing bookmarks and taking up to 30 seconds to reboot. I'm a total sucker for a good laptop sleeve, so when I came across the Lady D collection, I just about flipped. Not only do these adorable "granny wallet" sleeves from Etsy keep your laptop protected, but there's one for the iPad and Kindle lover in you as well. I pretty much flipped for the DODOcase for the iPad when it hit the streets earlier this year, mostly because I have a "thing" for Moleskine, but limiting itself to just the iPad? No, no. That just won't do.

Each case retails for $85 and are constructed from sturdy coated canvas and are lined with fun complementary prints, while your Kindle is held in place and protected by the inside hinge. Choose from three fun literary-themed designs (Great Expectations, The Great Gadsby, The Importance of Being Earnest) or two fun and fresh bright patterns.

I went wild over the Diane von Furstenberg Kindle 2 cases that came out earlier this year, and now owners of the latest-edition Kindle can get their own designer cases from the fashion house, along with a few other well-known labels. DVF is back and brought friends like Cole Haan, Timbuk2, Belkin, BUILT, and LeSportsac to the Kindle case game. My favorites are the DVF (obviously) and Cole Haan cases, which are on the more expensive side, but good news — they are cheaper than the older-generation editions.

I can't get enough of DVF's fabric Garden Animal ($85) and Ikat Berry ($85) cases, while Cole Haan's hand-stained leather Green Floral Print ($99), Woven Leather ($119), and Pebble Grain Leather ($99) cases exude class and sophistication. I'm definitely picking up one of these babies if I happen to upgrade to a new Kindle. What about you?
