Gift eBooks to Your Kindle-Loving Pals This Holiday

I've jumped on the Kindle train and am loving every second of it.

I've jumped on the Kindle train and am loving every second of it. Not only is the Kindle a great gift idea for your favorite bookworms, but if you've got a hard to shop for pal that is already enjoying the benefits of owning a Kindle, Amazon is making things easy by allowing anyone to give ebooks as gifts this holiday. Starting today, anyone can buy a Kindle book as a gift just by clicking the "Give as Gift" button when you check out. Enter the recipients' email addresses, and just like virtual gift cards, your pals will be notified of their gifts, and can download their books right away.

You can choose from thousands of titles — from non-fiction to the best "bodice rippers" — so there's sure to be something for everyone.

The Kindle Is Amazon's Best-Selling Gift Item Ever

Fresh off of the holiday, Amazon has announced that the Kindle is its most-gifted item in company history.

Fresh off of the holiday, Amazon has announced that the Kindle is its most-gifted item in company history. While the company hasn't released exact figures for the holiday shopping season (which they define as Nov. 15 through Dec. 19), the Kindle outsold popular toys, video games, DVDs, and books. Also of note: on Christmas day, more Kindle books were purchased than actual, physical books, presumably to fill up those brand new Kindle readers!

While the Kindle didn't win the award for your favorite eReader of 2009 — that honor went to Barnes and Noble's Nook — there's no denying the device's popularity, especially as a Christmas gift! I wonder though, if the Nook would have been as popular if it were available to fulfill holiday sales instead of having a long waiting list.

Other geeky holiday bestsellers include the Wii Fit Plus, Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare.
