Techspotting at the 2010 Grammys

If you tuned into the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards last night, you might have found that tech made quite the cameo before, and during the broadcast. Apparently, Pee-wee wasn't the only one that got his hands on the new Apple iPad before it hit stores, as funnyman Stephen Colbert brought his along to the show! Stephen whipped out his iPad during his hosting gig, asking his daughter if having one made him cool (she could only shrug), but kept it under wraps when he hit the stage a second time to accept his award for Best Comedy Album.

Earlier in the day, Ryan Seacrest was seen turning the tables and filming the red carpet from his point of view with a black Flip UltraHD camcorder. Finally, Michael Jackson's tribute was broadcast in 3D — did you don your glasses?

5 Awesome Newlywed Gadgets to Splurge On

Now that you're Mr. and Mrs., you'll want to invest in a few things for your new lives together.

Now that you're Mr. and Mrs., you'll want to invest in a few things for your new lives together. And where better to start than in the electronics department? I've talked at length about the benefits of having a small and compact camera around to capture great memories, and the Flip UltraHD, as well as the new (and oh-so-stylish) Olympus EP-1 fit the bill quite nicely.

Of course, the pair of LCD screens are a nice touch (a waterproof number for your bathroom, and a 42-inch model for your living room), and although the George Foreman Indoor/Outdoor Grill is pretty low tech, I think it's fit for any geek-chic apartment or house out there. May you enjoy your steaks well-done for many years to come!

Flip Video Announces New FlipShare Video Sharing Software

The best thing I learned in kindergarten was that sharing is caring, and that's still one of my major tenets.

The best thing I learned in kindergarten was that sharing is caring, and that's still one of my major tenets. It's one for Flip Video too — the company whose simple, portable video cameras made it easy to capture video is now making it just as easy to share the videos you make with your camera with new FlipShare software, just announced today.

FlipShare allows you to easily upload videos to websites like YouTube and MySpace, email them to friends, and sets you up with your own Flip Channel, where you can watch videos on the go. Speaking of on the go, there's also a new free FlipShare iPhone app.

I was lucky enough to test out the new FlipShare software and give it a hands-on review, so to see how I got going with the new one-click sharing, just read more

Testing 1, 2, 3: The Flip UltraHD Review

To help capture some Memorial Day weekend festivities, I took the latest camcorder from Pure Digital Technologies — the Flip UltraHD — out for a test drive.

To help capture some Memorial Day weekend festivities, I took the latest camcorder from Pure Digital Technologies — the Flip UltraHD — out for a test drive. Since the first Flip was announced in 2006, these simple-yet-sophisticated cams have not only been the video camera of choice among celebrities, but the general public has fallen in love with them as well (with sales skyrocketing after Oprah sang its praises).

Why is the UltraHD getting so much attention? Unlike its predecessor, the MinoHD that also records video in high-def, the UltraHD ($200) can capture up to 120 minutes of HD video footage with its 8GB of built-in memory — unlike the MinoHD, which is priced at $230 and only holds up to 60 minutes of video. The UltraHD also comes with a bigger, brighter antiglare LCD screen and an HDMI connector output.
