When it comes to what's deemed "sexy," to each his or her own. And never is this more evident than in the world of sexy pinup calendars. Sure, most of the more ridiculous (like "manure girls") are purposefully cheeky and often used to raise money for a cause or group. But some of the bizarre calendars out there may be taken seriously by those hanging them in their homes or (more likely) garages. As we all look for that special calendar to get our 2013 started right, take a look at the "sexiest" and strangest calendars of the year.
The back-to-school ads may be filled with crayons and paper, but a mom of a house filled with school-aged kids knows there's more to the list than that. Mama needs to add a few key items to that list to ensure that everything runs smoothly throughout the year. After filling your cart with scissors, glue, hand sanitizers, and everything else the teachers recommend, check out our list of must-have items every mom should add to her school-year arsenal!
Tired of the same old parade of 12 cute kitties every year on your wall calendar? Need to invest in something more interesting than a word definition of the day desk calendar? Then you've come to the right place. Check out these ideas for a more creative way to mark the months this year.
You may have already made your list of New Year's resolutions, but one thing we can try to work on all year long is being timely and organized. These calendar apps and notification tools will fit in nicely with your life as it is now, since they can live on the Internet or your phone. Small steps.
I'm more of a visual person, so when I came across this productivity and planning app, I just had to dive in. Called Diacarta ($2), it's an iPhone app that works like your iPhone's calendar app but does it in a much more eye-pleasing way. You start with a clock in the middle and add events to your day by dragging icons around your clock to give you a visual representation of your schedule, really allowing you to see what's coming up at a glance.
You can edit each event by double tapping on the icon, and away you go. The one thing I wish it could do? Import my Outlook events, since that's what I use for business. If that were the case, Diacarta would push my iPhone's stock calendar deep into the last page of my apps. They'll just have to live side by side until then.
See a demo video of Diacarta in action after the jump.

Karl Lagerfeld produced his second calendar for the Italian edition of Marie Claire, photographing two of his favorite subjects—actress Anna Mouglalis and model Baptiste Giabiconi—in a combination of recent cruise collections, couture and Fendi furs. The calendar, with images referencing iconic moments in Italian cinema, hits newsstands along with the January issue of Italian Marie Claire on December 16.

The anticipation of Christmas facilitated by my mother's advent calendar was always my favorite part of the holiday season growing up. (These days, it's mulled wine.) But I've never been a fan of those store-bought advent calendars where you opened a little paper door each day. They're cute, but certainly not as fun as a calendar filled with treats or activities. The possibilities for making your own advent calendar are endless, but I thought I'd round up a few DIY projects to inspire you (and woo you away from the drugstore variety).
