iWood: Luxurious Wooden Cases for iPhone

We all know that wood is good, but is it good when wrapped around a $599 iPhone? The people of Miniot, who have created handmade wooden cases for your iPhone, sure hope so.

The cases come in Oak, Paduk, Cherry, Mahogany and Walnut and cost about $95. The company also makes iPod nano and iPod-sized cases that can be personalized and engraved to add that earthy touch to your plastic pieces. While I think the cases are beautiful, I am not really keen on the "natural vs. man made" combo here. It's like using a wooden memory stick.

Well bamboo is nice, but it really all comes from china, and its not really wood, its actually a grass! I was reading that most all bamboo cases are machined in china and then finished in the US. I found some all american made wood cases, and some dont cost as much as these asian machined bamboo ones! http://www.etsy.com/shop/woodkaseUSA

okay i been looking for a wooden case, but some of them are just so expensive. however unique, i have looking into iwood, grovemade, evouni, and etc. could has anyone actually used any of them?

I ordered a Miniot case for my iPod 5th gen video. I have lifelong experience with fine wood products, and I can attest that the Miniot cases are very well made and beautifully finished. I'm baffled by tomasthoas's post, since it's exactly the opposite of my experience with Miniot. My iPod fits the case perfectly and the openings for the headphone jack and sync cable are perfectly aligned. Frankly, I don't think it could be better made, and I believe it's worth every penny. If you want a case that's totally distinctive, almost one-of-a-kind, and much more sophisticated than all the other ordinary things out there, this is it. I'm ordering a Miniot case for my iPhone 3G as soon as they're available.

Seeing this (via stumble... my all-time fave digital addiction) just made me join in on the sugar fun. Seems a little hypocritical to switch over from my recycled plastic, ecohappy, Agent18 case though... Is this totally an un-ecofriendly indulgence?

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT. Miniot sent me a badly made excuse for a case, the product was damaged out of the box, i ordered a logo- they got the placement and size of it wrong, the power button did not line up right and ended up dinging my phone, furthermore there are metal rods inthe back which they shoddily cover and of you don't look to make sure they will scratch the back of your phone. Miniot is a horrible company which refused to take responsibility for the damage there crappy case did to my phone, and refused to try and send me a working one....my suspicion is that all of them are slightly messed- they even admitted to me that the tolerances are still changing..... GREAT PRODUCT IN THEORY, BUT FAR LESS THAN PERFECT. IF YOU LIKE GREEN THINGS, DONATE THE $175 TO A CAUSE THAT PROTECTS TREES, AND DOESNT DESTROY THEM TO MAKE A PRODUCT THAT IS A SLIGHT STEP ABOVE FIREWOOD.

I think it's great, it reminds me of the wood on the dash on luxury cars and I love that look of modern mixed with classic!

Wow. I'm not a fan of this, to be honest. Plus, I like having screen protection, considering it's all glass! My husband and I bought these rubberized cases off eBay. They have a plastic lid over the face of it that you flip up and the cases are hard. I absolutely love it.
