UK singer-songwriter Lily Allen has just launched an online chat show with UK's BBC 3 called Lily Allen and Friends. The show incorporates Lily's new music and brings together her MySpace and celebrity friends in an online interactive show.
Discussed on Trendhunter, once you become one of Lily's FaceBook or MySpace friends, or join her Flickr or YouTube pages, you can automatically send pictures, videos, or questions to guests on the show. You can even embed the entire show on your MySpace page. Unfortunately video clips are currently restricted to UK residents, but the site is definitely worth visiting!
It seems like you guys are torn about the MacBook Air — from the comments on the Air posts, a lot of you love it but wouldn't or couldn't spend over $1800 on it. If that's the case, the Everex CloudBook may be the answer for those of you who like the size and convenience of the Air, but not the price. Everex's machine measures nine inches and weighs two pounds, has 30GB of space and a battery that lasts up to five hours. And it only costs $400! It's supposed to be available by February 15th, at Walmart.com and ZaReason.com.
No, I admit, it is not quite sexy enough to warrant a 3-girls-on-one-machine throwdown, but you can toss that baby into your purse.
Garmin's nüvifone looks like an awesome smartphone, especially if you've been waiting for a device with amazing GPS — the nüvifone bills itself as a GPS-device first and a cell phone second. In this new ad from Garmin, we get to see how great the GPS potentially works, as three different characters — John, Suzie, and Joey — illustrate the uses of the nüvifone.
John and Joey get to use the phone for news, GPS, music, and blogging, but what does Suzie use it for, you ask? To check her schedule or rock out? Nope, Suzie loves shopping! Suzie also loves spotting a new bistro to have lunch at. She also uses her nüvifone for — oh, wait. Wait. Nope. That's all Suzie uses her nüvifone for. Hey, at least with the ShePhone, we had options. The nüvifone is projected to come out in the third quarter of this year — let's just hope that by then, they know a little more about women.
Everyone says they're going green these days, but I often wonder how many people are really making an effort to help out mother nature. A recent study performed by iSupply Corp., found that less than ten percent of people who upgraded their phones recycled their old handsets. Additionally, ten percent of people sporting a new cell just tossed their old ones in the dumpster, which equals about 125 million discarded phones a year!
Needless to say, leaving last season's phone for the garbage man to pick-up is bad for the environment, causing mercury and lead to make its way into groundwater. Find out where to drop off your unwanted phones and then tell me, do you recycle your old cell phones?
The greatest geeky battle is being fought on our nation's streets. . .the streets of Hollywood, that is. Our country's most photographed residents can't avoid being snapped with their cell phone of choice, and most fall into the tech world's fiercest opponents: The BlackBerry and the iPhone. BlackBerry lovers can't keep their hands off their BB's, though they often upgrade their model, and it seems every day, the iPhone wins a fan from a person who is used to having fans.
Weighing in between 3 and 5 oz., the 9-year-old BlackBerry sports a mean camera, super-fast e-mail, and relies on the thumbs for its strength. Its weakness? Internet browsing.
Capitalizing on that handicap is the iPhone in this corner, weighing in at 4.5 oz. The iPhone may be young at barely a year old, but it's no amateur: Its browser KOs every other opponent, the iPod comes from a long line of successful fighters, and the touchscreen, well, cannot be touched.
Let's see how they stack up in the hands of Hollywood! Ring the bell!

I've confessed that I am wishy-washy about digital photo frames because I like putting a real picture in a real frame, so with that in mind, this Memory Keeper Digital Photo Pendant from the Discovery Channel Store is really pushin' it. Instead of tucking your painstakingly-cut little photo inside a locket over your heart, this plastic heart holds your digital pictures, no cutting required.
On the other hand, it does hold up to 40 pics of your beloved, unlike a real locket, which holds a maximum of two pics and has a tendency to chew them up!
As far as declarations of geek love that you can wear, I don't know if this is better or worse than those 8-Bit T-Shirts. Kind of a sweet Valentine's Day gift, though — what do you guys think?
With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I can't think of a better excuse to treat myself to a spa treatment and a new flash drive — sounds good right?!
