Day two of our Geeks We Love Valentine's series showcases someone who is certainly no stranger in the tech world (OK, well maybe he is somewhat of a stranger). You see, he is so "in the know" when it comes to industry info related to all things tech, that he runs a website under an assumed identity, Boy Genius. Boy Genius created The Boy Genius Report after becoming a crowd favorite within the circles of online mobile communities. His website is like a secret society for geeks. . . full of exclusives, tid-bits and "swirling new rumors." He was first to catch a glimpse of the Valentine's Day promo poster from AT&T, was first on the scene to reveal the BlackBerry 8xxx from RIM, and on December 25, his "music industry spy," Just Blaze (shown below), found out that Apple would be announcing a new laptop at MacWorld. Although we're wracking our brains trying to figure out who this person is, you can't help but love a person who is just — that good! Keep reading to find out more about this mystery man!
GS: I'd love to know how The Boy Genius Report all got started:
BG: It was something I did for fun. I had some great contacts who would send me devices and phones long before anyone had even heard of them, and as soon as I saw people's reactions, I knew I had to start sharing this. Engadget gave me a great avenue and it got so popular that I had to start something that I had complete control over.
GS: Of all the gadget/tech blogs I read on a daily basis, The Boy Genius Report seems to have the most "insider info" than anyone else (especially when it comes to cell phones). What is your secret and where do you get all your insider tips from?!
BG: A lot of our sources are close friends of ours who trust us with the information they give us, and that goes a long way when you're in something for the long term and are all about building relationships. Everyone is passionate about what we're doing, and hey, what's better than dropping some serious scoops?! You always got to keep corporate on their toes!

Six months?! Really?! That's how long HALF of a group of British men surveyed claimed they would give up sex for — for a 50-inch Plasma TV. I balked at the length of six months (both for the sake of believing men would really give it up that long, and also because, well. . .six months?!) Then again, that's 50 inches (insert terrible "size matters" joke here) of beautiful, flat, plasma display. That's 50 inches of Project Runway, Lost, and Gossip Girl.
Maybe I could do it. Maybe. I seem to remember very few of you saying you'd give up sex to keep your cell phone, so I'm doubly curious. Spill it!
While it's not quite as bad as standing in line at the DMV, standing in line at the bank is one of life's necessities that I could stand to lose.
A new online banking company, CheckFree Corp., is making that a reality by offering a service where you can scan your checks at home and make electronic deposits to your checking account.
"Remote Deposit Capture," which is being used by bigger banks for big companies, may be made available to us very soon. I already love the perks of what online banks now offer, so I know that I would deposit checks from home in a heartbeat! What about you?
How adorable! Elise Towle Snow created this game-inspired "Wii Belong Together" print for her Wii-obsessed husband for Valentine's Day. By using a Gocco (a silk screening machine from Japan), the artist used bright white ink on red acid-free paper to create this piece of geeky artwork. Recently featured on Boing Boing, this image spread like wildfire across the blogosphere . . . yes, the prints are officially sold out. I suggest checking back to Etsy this week to see if she makes any more so you can scoop one up before V-Day! Each print measures 5-by-7 inches and is mailed safely in a clear envelope with a piece of rigid cardboard.
All things old are becoming new again, and this '80s Arcade Table is no exception. Stocked with your favorites like Pac Man, Space Invaders, and forty-four other old-time classics, you just may feel like a little Marty McFly in Back to the Future II when you school your pals with your Donkey Kong skills! For the true retro-ist this is a bargain at $2,800, and you can even make some of that cash back by adding in the jam-resistant coin collector. Hey, not even fun comes for free anymore!
If you can't find the time to get to your local art museums, now you can conveniently bring the art to you and your desktop with a cool website called Artist a Day. So maybe it's not the same as the transcending experience you'd get cruising around the Met, but it does showcase a new artist each day and brings attention to various artists whose work may have gone unnoticed otherwise.
When you like artists' works, you can leave comments or continue on to their personal websites to see more of their creations. You can also include Artist a Day on your iGoogle homepage!
