Amazon is already working toward improving its online rental service, Amazon Unbox. According to The Boy Genius Report, Amazon is considering adding more high-def content to its selections, as well as starting a subscription service and possibly offering certain titles for free.
What do you think? Will these "added" features make you commit to Amazon Unbox over other online services?
Ever since I spotlighted Atonement's real star, I've been thinking about how amazing a vintage typewriter would look among my decor. I've always been in love with old typewriters and now as a gadget writer, I feel like it's a symbolic and romantic amalgamation of where I am now. So when I spied these gorgeous vintage and fully restored Royal typewriters on Three Potato Four's website, I almost drooled onto my very modern MacBook Pro.
Romance comes at a price, though — about $500. Yikes! Of course, they're beautiful (those colors!), fully functional, and come with their original hard carrying cases, so you wouldn't just have something to look at, you'd have an original vehicle on which to write some very special letters. I'm not sure what the cost would be to restore an eBay find and have it cleaned by a professional, but I can't imagine that'd be cheap either. For now, I'll settle for gazing at these beauties online.
With all the robot love making the rounds lately, it got me thinking about the little tin men and just how much I love them! And who doesn't? A geek's rite of passage to obsess over robots, sort of how purple is every little girl's favorite color at some point in their childhood. I especially like vintage robots from the 40s and 50s, since they have so much character, but I don't discriminate — from toys to robots that help me clean, I'm a fan of all kinds, especially if they make my life a little easier (hello, Roomba!). I did some thorough investigating, and found some pretty cool robotic goods floating around.

I got around to Netflixing the movie Broken English this weekend, and I was really touched by the story of Nora (the always fabulous Parker Posey), a lovelorn thirtysomething living in New York City. Single and unsatisfied, the first half of the movie courts your sympathies for Nora and the loneliness she's experiencing in many parts of her life.
Frustrated by her lack of men in the beginning, she happens upon a Match.com-like dating site and gets some pretty funny — yet harsh and straightforward news: "Your selection didn't turn up anything." Online dating sometimes makes you feel like there's slim-pickins out there. We feel your pain, Nora.
Don't you love it when you're about to make an online purchase, and instead of wasting ten more minutes of your life pulling your credit card out and typing in numbers for payment and shipping, you see the little PayPal icon? Sweet relief! I'm so stoked when I can just log into PayPal and complete my transaction. In a move that's way too convenient for my online shopping problem, PayPal has introduced a plug-in so you can use PayPal every time and anywhere you shop online.
All you need is a PayPal account and to download the plug-in — with sites that do accept PayPal, it will automatically populate all your shipping and payment info when you click it in your browser. For sites that don't normally use PayPal, the plug-in generates Secure Cards, one-time use numbers that deduct from your debit card. Unfortunately for Mac users, the plug-in is not available yet, but Secure Cards are. Like I need to more reasons to shop.

There are few things I love more than a nice steam — in fact, when I'm lucky enough to get a massage, I won't choose a spa without a steam room. Those 15-minute sessions before and after the steam are sometimes more relaxing than the massage itself!
I would love to be able to get a steam without paying the price for a massage, but Steam Spa's Portable Home Sauna is way too goofy to be my replacement. Where would I even put that in my little apartment?! In front of the TV? Actually, that doesn't sound so bad. . . A good steam and Gilmore Girls DVDs? Ooooh!
