I try my absolute best to keep gadgets out of the bedroom. So instead of surfing the internet before bed (like I used to do), I opt for reading a good book. I love books, but I don't know if I'd want my entire bed to look like a page from one! When I saw this Bedtime Stories Project on Gearfuse, I thought it was pretty neat. Not only does it look like a giant readable book, but it is made of several layers that can be removed as you read!
As a kid, I always dreamed of the day when my parents would surprise me with a Nintendo under the Christmas tree. I never did get a Nintendo (my mom had nightmares about me playing it 24/7), although I did settle for a GameBoy — which for some reason seemed a bit cooler at the time. Needless to say, I know what it feels like to want something like a gaming console so bad, you would give up birthdays for the next five years if it meant getting one.
Unfortunately for Jonathan, as you'll see in the video below, his douchebag parents tricked him into believing he was getting an Xbox for Christmas. Not only did they wrap up an empty Xbox box and fill it with shirts, but they decided to laugh at him once he realizes he didn't get the present he always wanted. Heartbreaking and total child abuse if you ask me.
Ever since I saw these amazing outdoor home theaters on Unplggd and GeekAbout, I've been having some major personal drive-in fantasies. Of course, that's a slippery slope, because then I start thinking, well, if I could afford that, I'd have a 52-inch flat screen, a bathroom tricked out with a TV and an iPod dock, and a hybrid Mini Cooper (I'd commission it!). So now that I've spilled, tell me ladies, if money were no object, what fantasy gadget would you have? Feel free to make stuff up too, like I did with the hybrid Mini!
As my Texan relatives say: Whoo-wee! It was quite a week for geeks. Socks were rocked off repeatedly — first by Jon Stewart as the Oscars' geekiest host in history, then with previews for The Hills and Sex and the City: The Movie, the best Star Wars synopsis EVER, and oh yeah, did I mention that we broke that amazing MacBook Pro rumor?!
Exhale, relax, and put up your feet for the weekend as you click through the best moments of this week!
Not only did SNL bring back ultimate geeky girl Tina Fey for their first show back from the strike, tonight's host is going to be Ellen Page (whose Junohamburger phone was a big winner in Oscar Season), along with Wii-lovers and all-around bada**es Wilco. Either SNL is a huge geeksugar fan and trying to seduce me with this promo, or they just got the memo that Ellen Page = young, and young people = texting.
Blogging platform Tumblr has just introduced some new features for its users, and I think it may have edged out Blogger as my favorite blogging tool (though WordPress and TypePad are pretty great, too). Though I don't have a blogging account on either site, I follow many blogs on those platforms and really marvel at their ease of use.
Anyway, it got me thinking: Do you blog? And if you do, is it about a certain subject or is it a more personal journal? Shout it out and tell me what platform you use, what you like about it and your addy if you want. I promise not to be as critical of it as I was about Dylan Krieger's Quarterlife blog! Source
Got something to say? Some clickin' and complainin' to do? Head over to GetSatisfaction and search out the retailers you have a beef with. Often times someone got there before you with the same question or complaint, and it's already been posted by another user and solved.
It's a great way to vent and find possible recourse (there's a whole thread on finding a Wii if you're still having problems finding one, even) — have I ever espoused the virtues of venting and how therapeutic it is?! No? Well I am now. Go get your grievance on.
