I sometimes start rambling about cool tips and tricks for Twitter, forgetting that I haven't really explained what the heck Twitter is — (OK Mom, this one's for you!). Basically, Twitter is based around one question and one question only — what are you doing? This free social messaging utility allows you to stay connected in real-time with friends, family, and co-workers via quick, frequent updates.
I can keep rambling on about how to use it, or you can watch this . . . a brilliant short video that explains it in a nutshell. But then again, it's really so simple that a nutshell is all you need it to be explained in . . . OK, OK, just watch and see what I mean! Also, let me know if you are a "Twitterer" below and what you like about it.
I am totally guilty of looking scandalized and insisting that my cell phone is a necessity, but if I stretch my brain, I can remember a time when I didn't have a cell phone and got along just fine. In fact, I definitely remember uttering the obnoxious sentiment, "I don't want a cell phone . . . It's like an electronic leash!" (Yes, I know I was kidding myself.)
With my job and crazy-busy life, I can't imagine not having a cell phone — but really, people were OK before them (but sad, no iPhones to play with?), and my "cell phones are necessities" tune definitely changes the more I hear of younger and younger kids getting cell phones. I know kids in elementary schools who have cell phones?! Not to mention the fact that some people can not only afford a $400 phone, let alone the service, and that's the point at which I realize a cell phone is a luxury, and then I feel like a spoiled techie yuppie. What do you think? Is it necessary, or is it a luxury?
Tired of smoothing out your white sheet to take a good picture of something you want to put up on Craigslist or eBay? I myself have found the perfect lighting and surface on my white table at home, but I'm pretty over it, so I love this mini Tabletop Photo Studio!
You don't have to fuss with a sheet, the light, anything — for just $30, you get pretty professional-looking results. I'm not even as taken with the convenience of this, as I am the adorableness of it too. It's so little! It's so cute! So put those cute shoes you never wore up in the mix, turn up "Vogue", and get snapping. Also totally works for Barbie and puppy photo shoots (they are so vain).
In honor of International Women's Day, I thought I'd give it up for all my ladies and remind you of mine and PartySugar's intense field reporting — for you!
Check out the slideshow to find out how we fared at the Apple Store among the eligible geeks, as well as all the big geek posts of the week!
In honor of SDK and the new apps you'll soon have on your iPhone . . . Apple lovers, might it be time yet for a new case? If girly overload is what you're lookin' for then I've done the legwork for you — this iPhone case by Juicy Couture is not only totally pink, it's got a gold chain and lock-and-key charms. In true Juicy style, it's made of leather and gold (yet no actual bells or whistles?), and it's all yours for $75. Well, I guess it's one way to assert among your fellow geeks that yes, you are a girl.
The saying may be "beauty doesn't come cheap," but for this camera, it certainly does! For only $50 you can pick yourself up one of these ultra-thin sleek black cameras by Philips.
Here's the thing, it's a 3-megapixel camera, so you're not going be able to blow your pictures up to life size. But if you're looking for a camera that takes nice 4-x-6-inch photos that are quick and easy to share via email, this cam is for you!
Online generators of any kind tend to suck my time and make me happy (still love the conversation heart generator). So when I found a Fairy Tale Generator the other day, I almost didn't know what to do with myself.
Based on Vladimir Propp's studies of structure in Russian folk tales, the Proppian Fairy Tale Generator lets you pick your desired plot themes such as struggle, villainy, rescue, and weddings, and the generator does its thing. Your results come up as your very own fairy tale — one of mine started off as: "A serpent in the stream asked me, 'What do you have in your bag?'" It's no Snow White, but it's promising. I'm still waiting for the prince to rescue my Princess Peach, though.
