If you're burning CDs and DVDs, you probably label them right afterward, and do what I (used to) do, which is reach for a Sharpie. But I caution you, as your friend and gagdet guru: Put down the Sharpie.

The chemicals in Sharpies (and most conventional markers) can eventually damage the data on your discs. I've written on CDs and DVDs plenty of times and while I'm not sure I've tasted the downside of it yet, why take chances? You can either label with the kind of markers that are made for writing on CDs, or do what I do and write on a white file sticker, or for something prettier, the stickers in this CD Packaging Kit should do the trick.

Have you ever opened an email or IM from a friend directing you to an "awesome" or "really funny" site, only to click on the link and find yourself rockin' out to a Rick Astley video on YouTube? You may begin thinking to yourself "This isn't really that funny or awesome," then you begin to wonder what happened to you. Wonder no more, my friend, you've just been "Rick Roll'd."
What is Rick Roll'd? Well, also known as "Rick Rolling" or "Rick N' Roll", Rick Rolling is an internet prank in which "roll-ers" disguise a link to a Rick Astley video on YouTube as another video or website (usually consisting of puppies, unconfirmed gaming news, fake presidential updates, or blogs with interesting or funny comments) to the the "roll-ee". But why Rick Astley? To find out why, read more
Do you ever see something that totally reminds you of, or looks like a face? As much as you try to shake the fact that a rock or a cloud is smiling at you, you just can't? Well when TeamSugar user Calamari sent Faces in Places to me, I couldn't get over how many recognizable human faces there are on everyday things. I'm already addicted to this site, and can't help but check out all the new photos of faces in places. Trust me, the more faces you see, the more visible they will become — kinda like a sixth "faces in places" sense!

Here's the latest and greatest piece of kid-tech since the OLPC XO laptop made its debut last year. Costing only $50, the Teachermate has just been unveiled by a Chicago-based nonprofit called Innovations For Learning.
Engadget reports that this system will be sent out to 500 Chicago elementary schools over the next two years, in hopes that every child will eventually receive one. What's not to love about this tiny PC that comes with a 2.5-inch LCD display, an SD card slot for expandability, 512MB of RAM, and a built-in mic and speaker. With a complete reading and math curriculum on each device, these PCs are going to change the lives of many kids.
The Teachermate is said to become available on Amazon soon, so stay tuned.
Since we spend more time at work than we do at home, naturally, you'd want to be as comfy as possible. That includes having all of your nerdy desk accessories within arms reach. I mean, who hasn't wanted to take a break from all those TPS reports and flow charts to play with their Lightsaber desk lamp for a few? I for one, am 100 percent on board for that. Geek is chic people, get with it.
Check out my slideshow for more uber geeky, but totally essential, desk accessories!
