What if Tony Stark had been Antonia Stark and Gwyneth Paltrow was the one suiting up in Iron Man, out today? The film would probably look like Vogue's spread with cover girl Gwyneth Paltrow — real props from Marvel complement couture gowns and elaborate wiring that's as much her power as it is her accessory. Check out the slideshow for the whole Gwyneth shoot!
Before he was Apple's hipster Mac representative, I had a little thing for Justin Long (I hear Drew Barrymore does too). Before him, I thought the Dell dude, Ben Curtis — remember him? "Dude, you're gettin' a Dell" — was pretty cute (subsequent marijuana-related arrests notwithstanding). And even though I'm a Mac gal, I totally have a thing for sweet little PC, John Hodgman.
Add to them the bespectacled Verizon guy, Paul Marcarelli, who dutifully asks whether you can hear him now and Alltel Wireless' blond cutie Chad Brokaw, and we've got a nice little collection of geeky crushes, courtesy of the tech advertising industry. Who's your fave?
Usually I get all excited when I find out a hotel has free WiFi, but ever since the Westin announced its plan to offer complimentary Wiis for guests, I'm starting to think that every hotel should be equipped with Wii gaming consoles.
It doesn't stop there. Nintendo has just teamed up with Westin Hotels to offer Wii Fit and Wii Sports to its WestinWORKOUT program, so that guests can get fit while having lots of fun. Nintendo will also be providing the hotel chain with Wiis that will automatically update with new games.
Hotels to initially receive the gaming goods in May include: The Westin Hilton Head, The Westin Crown Center, Kansas City, The Westin Harbor Castle, Toronto, The Westin Diplomat, Hollywood, The Westin St. Francis, San Francisco — (yay!), The Westin St. Louis, The Westin Galleria, Houston, and The Westin Savannah Harbor. And more to follow, depending on the yay or nay feedback from guests.
Do my eyes deceive me? Could it be . . . an exceptionally chic laptop backpack? Kenneth Cole's leather Case-adilla not only has a clever name, fine-grain beautiful brown leather, it's also convertible, should you need to remove it from your back.
I've seen laptop backpacks before, but usually from a utility standpoint — manufacturers haven't really mixed "chic" with "backpack" before — until now, that is. Not to mention that it's totally unisex. What's your take on the laptop backpack?
I've always been a fan of using my cell phone to stay organized and recently found a free cell phone service that was created to help you do just that. Qipit allows you to copy documents and handwritten notes with your camera phone or digital camera to store, fax, email, or publish online.
The service turns notes into digital copies (PDFs), allows you to email or fax digital copies via email, and helps store all of your paper documents and notes as digital documents for easy archiving and sharing. It aims to be a "portable scanner, mobile copier, and a mobile fax machine, all in one." You could technically do all of the things it does without the service, but the ability to create "crisp, clear, digital copies" partnered with the fact that it's free and will archive everything in one place is a plus. I can be a little obsessive about shopping for particular items. I fixate on one thing every once in a while that I have to have, and no substitute will do. Why the obsession? Because paying retail sucks and I want it on sale!
And so, Shop It to Me is my savior for this — you sign up and then check off which stores/brands you love and want to be updated on sales for, enter in clothing items you're interested in and your sizes, and then they email you when that store has a sale going on. You pick the days you want email notifications of the brands you chose (I picked daily — I'm a little overeager about this).
So you can get there first and get those perfect black gladiator sandals for Spring before someone else does!
German company Koziol makes the kind of products that I see at my hardware store when I'm there for putty or something boring — and make me smile and open my wallet a little wider. The bright, pretty little objects in primary colors perform practical tasks, like holding CDs or cables, and they transform boring desk dwellers from clutter to tchotchkes of awesomeness. Check out my slideshow for their best/cutest technology accessories!
