Net Neutrality — Who Owns the Web? Do We Need Two? Some slangers sling around the words "Internets" or "Interwebs" to be cheeky — who knew how close to true it might be! A new book by Jonathan Zittrain called The Future of the Internet – And How to Stop Itposits the notion of separate but equal webs.
If you're eagerly awaiting the Sugar girls' presentation of the Sex and the City movie screening like me, then you're a SATC freak, but are you a Sex and the City geek? Now that you're working out and pumping those muscles with games in preparation for your wedding that burn you feel in your shoulders may not just be the result of some power lifting, but stress.
And as I'm sure you know, between your workout regime, long hours at the office, and dealing with your mother-in-law to be's seating chart (that you didn't ask her for), you may be wanting to head for the hills! Thankfully, gadgets are not only good for playing games and calculating tip percentages, they can also be good for relieving stress.
Let some of these gadgets help you chill out and relax so you don't have a major breakdown (or a breakout) on your wedding day! Check out all my stress relieving gadget suggestions when you read more
As the news rolls in that Earthlink is pulling its citywide WiFi coverage from Philadelphia, any geeky San Franciscan is probably thinking about how close we came to having public WiFi blanket cover our fair city too (please say it's not over till it's over, Gav).
Bittersweetness aside, I've thought of how it would realistically affect me - and I'm pretty sure that it would be absolutely amazing in terms of taking my laptop anywhere to work and play - any coffee shop, getting a pedi, any park. But here's the rub: No way would I stop paying for DSL at home.
San Francisco's offer from Google would have meant a connection speed of 300k, and when my DSL is five times faster than that, I just can't swap. Which is a shame, because I would love for free public WiFi to mean a bill I could get rid of. But what about you? If your city got free public WiFi, would you get rid of yours at home?
Sleek and chic was the name of the game at last night's Jawbone party here in San Francisco. Me and my geeksugar partner in crime were out in full force, checking out Jawbone's latest and greatest second generation bluetooth headset, which is now available for $130. Not only did we get to examine this fashionable device, which features stellar noise-blocking technology and is fifty percent smaller than the original model, but we ran into one of our favorite tech savvy gals — Gina Hughes of Yahoo! Tech and Techie Diva!
For a full gallery from the event, check out all the pics below. And if you're wondering how to get your hands on the gold and silver designs, they'll be available soon. Finally, a bluetooth device with extraordinary sound quality that is comfortable to wear and is absolutely stylish!
If you haven't heard of Eye-Fi before, it's basically a SD card that allows you to connect to your home network via WiFi and upload pictures automatically on your laptop or computer — no cables or cords required! All the bloggers at the Touch Diamond event were using them and I have to say, once you have one, you can't imagine your life without it!
Well Eye-Fi has just come out with an even better product called Eye-Fi Explore thanks to their partnership with Skyhook Wireless. With Eye-Fi Explore, you can now conveniently upload your pics from over 10,000 WiFi hotspots across the country and your photos will automatically get "geotagged" so you'll know exactly where they were captured! Eye-Fi Explore SD cards include 2GB of storage each and are priced at $130. How great is modern-day technology?!
I was overjoyed when I walked into the office this morning to find a big rectangular box sitting on my desk just begging to be opened. Oh yes my friends, it's the Wii Fit! I'm lucky enough to get an advance taste of the exergaming monster and bring you the inside scoop on all the posing, toning, and reflex gaming goods. Not only am I looking forward to a more relaxed state of mind with yoga, but having some child-like fun with hula hooping, too!
And to truly test out the power of Wii Fit, I'll be conducting my own experimental 30 Day Fitness Journal, and share my results with all of you right here on geeksugar. Just like what Mickey DeLorenzo did for Wii Sports, I will do for Wii Fit. And it won't just be me dissecting the newest Wii title— FitSugar is getting in on the fun and will be bringing you some juicy Wii Fit findings of her own. So stay tuned for more Wii Fit madness!
