Charming but old Victorian apartments have their drawbacks — besides having plaster walls that are hostile to mounting flat screen TVs, they also have very, very few outlets. And that is bad news for a geek.
With power strips and squids adorning my every available outlet, it's a pretty cord-crowded existence. It's partly messy because strips are in yes, a strip form, which is not the most efficient thing for lamps, chargers and other gadgets that take up different places in my apartment. The Revolve Power Strip, however, looks to be efficiency incarnate, wrapped up in a clean, pretty white package (you know how I love white gadgets).
The Revolve is one of those things you wonder why it took so long to make — outlets that spin! Of course! It doesn't look to be available for sale just yet, but I'll be on that waiting list with my credit card in one hand and a pile of cords in the other.
Greenpeace recently did a study on gaming consoles and found that the level of toxic chemicals used to manufacture them were higher than what's allowed in children's toys.
The study was conducted on a PlayStation 3, an Xbox 360 and a Wii, all bought in Europe (where they don't classify game consoles as toys). All consoles were guilty of containing toxics like Phthalates, bromium, and PVC — which pose a threat to both the environment and sexual development in humans. Who's a little creeped out?
When I have a choice, I do try to seek out electronics that are greener, in general, like the Energy Star designation for appliances. I'm stoked that my MacBook Pro is mercury-free, and it definitely disappoints me to see my favorite brands ranking low on Greenpeace's greener electronics guide. How about you? Do you worry about the eco-ness of your gadgets too?
Now that you've taken the Sex and the City tech trivia quiz, which brought you up to speed with all the tech treats from past SATC episodes, it's time to check out some of the geeky gadgets the Sex and the City movie has in store for us! Here's a sneak peek of what we can expect next week at the premiere!

Depressed about the upcoming demise of Polaroid's instant cameras?
Then now would be the time to get up, buy a soon-to-be-vintage-geek camera and a crap-load of film, and quit whining about it! I'm planning on grabbing an old Polaroid, stockpiling some film, and snapping away before it's too late.
Though Amazon has newer models of Polaroids like this One600, I much prefer this old-school looker, pictured here (plus it's about a $200 difference).
Summer is the perfect time to lug this Polaroid everywhere and take some cute pics, and get in your nostalgia time before it's too late. If anything, it'll be a great relic to show your kids in the future, so don't wait — unless you love being gouged on eBay!
And if you already have a Polaroid and film and are wondering when your film will be discontinued, get the chart when you read more

I've never considered printers to be a "fun" gadget, but that's certainly the name of the game with Canon's compact SELPHY CP770.
The Selphy, which resembles a rubber bucket, is definitely a family friendly printer. Just insert your memory card, check out your pics on the 2.5-inch display and start printing — no computer required! You can also print via Bluetooth with other devices. With a typical 4 x 6-inch photo only taking three minutes to print, this may be a useful on-the-go printer after all. And as for quality? They say it is lab-quality, but we'll have to see about that. It's priced at $150. What do you think? Do you love? Or feel like leaving it?
At the risk of sounding like an old lady reminiscing about how much things have changed, let me reminisce about how much things have changed for just a moment. I remember when gas was $1.20 and I could fill up my tank for about ten bucks. Now $50 later, I'm out my daily soy latte, but at least I have a full tank to get me to where I need to go. Everything costs more these days, but at least you can still get something for nothing. I know what you're thinking, nothing is free anymore — but it's true!
