As I was tidying my DVD and video game library in my bookcase at home the other day, I kept seeing game titles I haven't played in forever. "Ohhh, let's play Jeopardy! Tetris! DDR!" I squealed. My renewed interest is totally due to the fact that I burned out on all these games approximately two weeks or so after buying them — which makes me fearful for my upcoming personal Wii Fitness challenge, a little.
Wii games usually stay perennially fun because even if you're bored of them, guests will come over and get you back into it. But even with my favorite games, I eventually tire of them, especially hot ones that I get and play the hell out of at the beginning. I liken it to watching the same movie over and over again. Burn out is only natural, right? What about you? Is this your occasional affliction too? Source
It was another great week for geeksugar, as I got started on my Wii Fit-ness goals, scored a trip to Mecca (aka Google HQ), and said farewell to this season's Gossip Girl Tech quizzes — and that's just the beginning! Click through the slideshow to see the hottest moments on geek this week!
I'm not ready for kids just yet, but the sight of this little cutie in a Future Gamer onesie is seriously making my ovaries ache.
But don't worry babysugar, I won't be joining you too soon — I think I'll just order this Space Invaders-inspired outfit for a geeky friend's baby shower. In fact, I totally need a geek friend to get preggers, just so I can selfishly satisfy myself by buying this and the Google baby onesie.
And maybe I'll just get a second onesie for, you know, uh, someday!
I spend so much time trying to hide my cords, and wind my cords, that sometimes I just want to be totally rid of cords. That's why I would have never considered something that's normally the general bane of my existence to be beautiful. I am totally speechless about this lamp — a design presented by Nicolo Taliani at this year's ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair).
The sheer modernness of it — the silhouette, color, glass base — makes the tangled cord inside work, while a more complicated design would just make it look like a mess. But for me, I'd buy this lamp as soon as it was available and put it in my place in a heartbeat.
It's time to pay some respect to the video game consoles of the past 30 years, which paved the way for all the high-tech consoles we use today — hello, the Wii?! Isn't it ironic how each and every one of these consoles was a leader of its time? I mean come on, when the first Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) came out in 1985, it was the best-selling gaming console of its time (selling 62 million units worldwide). And since then, consoles have evolved beyond our wildest dreams. Enjoy!
I'm never prouder than when an awesome photo I took gets a ton of views and comments on Flickr, and maybe (just maybe) a stranger subscribes to my photostream! It's a nice accomplishment for a part-time pic snapper like myself. I'm not saying I'm Annie Leibovitz in any way, but I've offered up an informative how-to or two of my own to help you take the best snapshots you can and work with what you've got.
Whether you have a digital camera, a Polaroid, a Lomo, or a sweet camera phone, then you've got the potential to take great photos, no experience required. Photography is for everyone, not just those who get paid to do it! Take a look at my photo how-to roundup for a refresher, or to help you take some awesome shots for the first time when you read more
To show you how awesome Cubeecraft is, I knew I had to show rather than tell, so behold my glorious, hand-hewed creation! Cubeecraft provides you with templates that you download and print, then cut out and assemble to make cute, free desk accessories. I chose my fave, Mario, and cutting and putting him together took patience I haven't had since the third grade.
Cubeecrafts don't require glue or tape, although I desperately wanted to cheat and add both around hour two, but I persevered, and only a few obscenities were hurled at my Mario. But look! I did it! Don't let anyone tell you that geeksugar doesn't walk the walk.
Oh, and they recommend that you use craft paper, instead of standard printer paper — sadly, I print first and ask questions later, which is why my guy looks a little special. I still love you Mario!
