It's a known fact that I spend more time online than almost anything else (other than sleeping I suppose), so it's only natural that my feeble attempts at keeping houseplants alive rarely succeed, and they die within a month. The only plant I've been able to keep alive for longer is my iGrobot, and that's because it sits on my desk at work, reminding me to water it! Sad, right?
There's nothing I love more than adding a touch of tech to everything, so there's no wonder I'm in love with this Pet Plant that I saw on Yanko Design yesterday. Designed by Junyi Heo, this planter is a dream come true for those of us who want some greenery in our midst, but just can't seem to get it together and care for them. As you may already know your Nintendo DS can do a lot more than entertain you. It helps increase your brain power, get you fit and in shape, and now it may soon be an aid in helping you to quit smoking!
If you've tried to quit before, you can probably tell me a dozen ways you've tried (and maybe failed) at finally kicking the habit - like puffing away on that high tech cigarette - but Alan Carr would like you to give his new video game a try. The game to be released on the DS, will be based on Carr's self help book titled Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking, and today, Ubisoft announced that it will produce the game and release it to the masses this November.
Ultimately I'm a little confused as to how the game would work, but since playing my DS distracts me from my commute, I can see how it would take your mind off the urge to light up. Would you play an anti-smoking video game to help you quit?
I remember looking at my old tube TV and thinking what a sad, old, honkin' piece of old technology it was. Like Richard Simmons, I wanted to drop the unneeded bulk and upgrade to the skinny model: The Flat Screen. I eventually did it, with a 50-inch Sony that's all I dreamed it could be.
I'm not the only flat screen enthusiast — Martha Stewart, all-important doyenne of aesthetics, recently gave the new Sony OLEDs a rave review: "I like it." With an endorsement like that it's no wonder that flat screens are making a splash as decor, and let's face it, it's the shape of the future and we'll all have flatties eventually. Do you have yours yet?
With Sex and the City mania in full swing on the Sugar network, I thought I'd take a moment to reflect on something that was just as important as Carrie's signature Manolo Blahnik shoes — the fab four's home tech! For Carrie, her humble abode was also her workspace, which meant that trusty black G3 PowerBook was regularly spotted on her desk, the floor, her bed and everywhere else. Since the inception of texting and IM'g, WTF has been a universal acronym that gets regularly used in chats, between cell phones and computers. Because it easily rolls off the tongue, or computer keys a tad too quickly, I find myself dropping the WTF bomb a tad too much — yes dad, you're right, it does "cheapen" me. Nonetheless, when you can't find the strength from within to conger up the confidence to say WTF to someone's face, I suggest investing in one of these WTF stamps. . . which will surely save you embarrassing face-time with your co-worker.
Unfortunately I don't know where you can buy one (my Spanish is pretty rusty), or how much they cost, but at least we know they do exist, so we're halfway there. Thanks for adding this to our geek gear list TeamSugar user eruntale!
Urban Outfitters has really been satisfying my vintage needs lately, but with shiny newness intact. First there was that old-timey USB Webcam, and now this mod-ish USB Desk Fan!
It's only $15 bucks and unlike that webcam, works for both Macs and PCs.
Since this is basically a miniature-sized version of a fan that I have in my house, I have no qualms about its design and think it's a bit more attractive than the other USB fans I showcased recently. What's your take?
