How awesome is this? A company called Kinetic Communications has created a mod for Rock Band so that people in wheelchairs can play.
Previously, the wheelchair-bound couldn't rock out because the game's kickpedal couldn't be disabled, but Kinetic's hack, which was created for one of their disabled clients who wanted to play, allows you to unplug it and bypass the kickpedal function.
For under $20, all you need to buy is a few supplies, and the directions sound achingly simple. Nice work, Kinetic!
With lots of pockets, two built-in speakers and a plug for your iPod, this speaker tote bag is a great accessory for trips to the beach. I'm not sure how amazing the speakers sound, but I'm sure it would be the same level of quality as a mini boombox — remember those?! It's even on sale for $49, saving you twenty bucks from the original price tag. And if you're looking for a speaker/cooler/AM FM radio combo bag, there's always this somewhat tacky bag.
Scientific American has a tutorial on how to spot a doctored photo, which is really interesting when applied to timely news photos, but for this gossip junkie, it doubles in interest when you use it to spot photoshopped celebrity photos! In the new Sex and the City movie, Carrie is swayed into doing a magazine photo shoot with two words: "Vogue airbrushing." I won't lie to you, my vanity perked up when I was first learning Photoshop, because I was thinking "Yessss! No more zits!"
If you don't do what you can to look your best while taking the photo, you know you have post-pic options. Though I have yet to erase my own blemishes with Photoshop, I have fixed red-eye and offered my skills to friends who have complained about unflattering photos of themselves.
So, spill: Have you used your Photoshop skills to fix a photo of you, or had someone do it for you?
Pure Digital Technologies has just announced their latest addition to the pocket-sized camcorder family — the Flip Video Mino! Forty percent smaller than the Ultra Series Flip Cam (the one Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger use), the Mino weighs only 3.3 ounces, yet it can hold up to 60 minutes of video with 2GB of on-board flash memory.
The back-panel includes a 1.5-inch no glare LCD display and new intuitive touch-sensitive buttons that allow you to record, fast forward, rewind, pause and delete.
“Flip Video Mino delivers the perfect combination of high-quality video, sleek design, and ease of use,” said Jonathan Kaplan, CEO of Pure Digital Technologies.
The camera also includes a rechargeable lithium ion battery that will charge whenever the camera's USB arm is connected to a computer or laptop. You can also purchase an AC power adapter.
The Flip Video Mino is priced at $179.99 and will be available today nationwide from stores like Amazon, Best Buy, The Flip and Walmart.
Remember when cell phones didn't have built-in cameras, and now most of us wouldn't know what to do without them?!
Well the same thing is happening with video capture — a feature that is being integrated in more and more cell phones. Unfortunately my phones don't come with the feature, but watching Lauren Conrad take footage with her phone makes me want to be able to stream videos to my friends as well!
I know video recording on cell phones isn't a huge must-have feature for cell phones just yet, but if the quality gets better then I'm definitely going to cross my fingers that my next phone has a minicamcorder. What about you?
Why am I suddenly entranced by monsters? Could it be Summer horror-movie season?! Maybe. Or maybe this Monster Laptop Cozy, like the DS-Gobbler, who was almost universally loved, is just plain cute.
No, it's not a sleek leather sleeve, and I can't promise your colleagues won't laugh you out of a meeting. But here's to the geeks who are kids at heart and not afraid to rock a monster! Bonus points to whomever gets the TV reference in the title.
