If psychedelic prints give you a headache then avert your eyes; here comes Z Attache's Urban Laptop Case in Swirl.
I don't really know where to begin with this one — the swirling pattern is making me nauseated despite my usual love of bright and bold colors, and the hard interior looks perilous to my precious computer. Plus the fact that they want you to wear this is a backpack is nearly driving me to drink.
Of course, all these things may be what others are looking for in a laptop bag (I'm just not one of them). What do you think?
Haven't we all been in the movies, enjoying our tub of popcorn, when the jerk in front of you lets his cell phone ring and ring? And then to your shock and horror, he has the nerve to answer it?! And what about when you are strolling the aisles of Target, having a fine time picking out cotton swabs, when a fellow shopper is practically yelling into your ear on her cell about her sister's roommate's boyfriend's divorce? Don't even get me started on folks at the gym, gabbing away as you elliptical, miserably, next to them.
We have all been there, and the best thing to do when you have a rant is to share it. That's why I've created a new geek group, just for venting your stories about someone who pissed you off by either answering their phone at an inappropriate place or time, or someone who TMI'd you at great volume. So join my Cell Phone Rant group and your story might get featured right here, on the geeksugar home page!
What would you say to an add-on for your email client that would track what times you read your emails at, what time your co-workers read their emails from you, the time of day you liked to compose emails, and how long it takes you to reply? And then have all that info given to your boss and co-workers?
Because to me, it sounds a little like 1984. This is what Outlook extension Xobni promises to do. By piggybacking on your email application, Xobni is an investigative, analytical little bugger that makes me kind of nervous (Oy, remember Beacon?). There are certainly useful tools from Xobni, too; when you get an email from a contact, your email history with them will pop up, as well as their contact info and LinkedIn profile. Xobni also stresses that you must opt-in for their service to analyze your email habits.
Still, I'm a little wary of something tracking my every email move. What's your take?
Whether you've taken the time to be a pro at Photoshop, or you just want to make your photos goofy in a jiffy, you'll love Dumpr. Upload a photo to Dumpr, choose an effect like Paparazzi style, museum display, Rubik's cube, or reflection, and watch your images become rad vignettes.
A pro (read: paid) account gets you a few more effects, but I'm perfectly pleased with the current range of offerings, and I like that you can upload directly from your flickr account.
I especially like seeing my friend Jakey here on display at the Museum of Modern Art!
The city of Akron, OH, has committed to spend $800,000 to install a free wireless network over the next five years. And why haven't I heard of this tech-savvy place before? — Engadget
What's wrong with this picture? So I was walking home from work yesterday and I happened to notice this unusual sight; an old school bank machine talking in the first person with "I"! Too funny! Whatever happened to "this machine is temporarily unavailable"? Kinda makes me think that someone is trying to make "machines" offer a friendlier user experience, but rather than make things easier, you can't help but turn your head and go, huh? You talking to me?! Is there a little man inside there? Oh Mr. Technology, you're so cheeky.
