I love a good website that helps me do something geeky even better, but sometimes I've got to feature a new website that's more on the sweet and artful side. The Ones We Love was begun as a project by young photographer, Lindley Warren, who asked people to submit six photographs of the most important person in their life.
The result is a compilation of startlingly intimate shots by assorted photographers that are breathtaking and lovely, regardless of skill or technique (though it's paramount on this site). To get to all the shots, simply navigate to "photographers," click on any of the names, and first read the introduction the artist gives the subject. Sigh. . . where's my camera?

It's not just the Brits who find Google Maps a little freaky deaky; there are scenarios in which the benevolent Google could be used for evil. Don't buy it? Then watch this hilariously satirical video about what happens when boy meets girl, boy gets jealous, and boy makes a My Map with Google Maps.
Top Search Words on Obama/McCain Sites, Used in Congress The New York Times has a graphic analysis of the top 200 search terms used on both of the candidates' websites — and with abortion topping Barack Obama's and health care heading McCain's it makes me think perhaps web-searchers are using the sites to get info on the opponent?
I'm an unabashed Marimekko freak — I flipped over these mouse pads, because I love integrating my favorite designs into my digital life, and I see that they enjoy doing it too, because they've made desktop wallpapers in some of Marimekko's classic prints.
I'm typing to you directly from the Kaiku wallpaper, a personal fave, and I have my eye on a few other Finnish beauts that'll make their way to my background in due time as well.
Oh, technology: democratizing design, one desktop at a time.
I have many fond memories of rocking out hard core with my pals with Guitar Hero until dawn. Since it was the first of its kind, it will always have a place in my game loving heart. But things change, and so do my obsessions. Currently, I bust out Rock Band every chance I get. It's the ultimate party game, and I don't remember life without it. Maybe that's going a little far, but it's seriously that awesome.
With soon-to-be-released Guitar Hero On Tour taking it up a notch and coming stocked with a drum kit and microphone, we're about to have a full on battle of the bands on our hands! But until then, tell me: Which is your favorite rock game to play these days?
Since I like to be kind to plants, I have a general policy of not owning them. Unless they are cut flowers or plants I will be ingesting later that evening, the only way I "take care" of plants is the way the mafia "takes care" of their enemies.
But since I'm trying to fight my black thumb, I'm going to give plant care and feeding another shot, and I'll do it with the help of Botanicalls. Botanicalls provides plants that through a sensor-microconnector situation that makes this geek's brain hurt (just read the description), eventually call you to tell you that it needs watering.
The very best part? The plants have awesome voices and messages you can listen to here. Even if you're not interested in buying one of their plants, just give it a listen for a giggle.
