You're probably sick of hearing about apps apps and more apps, but how can I possibly not share an app with you that will help you find prices of products locally and online, and will provide you with product reviews and info? The app is called Checkout Smartshop and to use it, all you have to do is enter a barcode (UPC) number of a product and it will start working its magic. To purchase just go to the iTunes App Store and click on Productivity and search for "Checkout Smartshop." The app costs $4.99, but as far as I can tell, it's $5 well spent. For some cool free apps, be sure to check out my entire list!
Phrases that used to be reserved for texting, instant messaging, and personal blogging are now coming right out of our mouths! Whether it's a reflection of wanting to talk the way we type, being allowed to say things in acronym form that you couldn't otherwise (i.e., "WTF"), or if it's just the new slang, everybody's doin' it.
The Gossip Girl kids are throwing around the acronyms (so much so that their ads nearly ignited a riot), Barney Stinson is abbreviating everything, and I have even been known to let "maj" and "OMFG" slip.
What about you? Do you reserve the shortcut-speak for your typing, or do you fit this in to your everyday slang?
By the time Autumn rolls around, I'm always ready for new colors, fresh designs, and ingenious pieces of new tech. Belkin is already gearing up for the arrival of Fall with colorful new laptop accessories including totes and sleeves as well as fun and functional mice. . . all which are very affordable.
Check out my slideshow to see what else Belkin has in store for us this Fall!
If you had reservations about that $99 Netflix player, Roku, then you have another alternative to watching Netflix movies: your Xbox 360!
At the E3 trade show yesterday, Microsoft announced that Xbox 360 would now be able to stream movies from Netflix right onto your TV. This is just more awesome news from Microsoft, who just this weekend announced price slashings on its Xbox 360. It is so on!
Author Neil Gaiman and his publisher have reported that giving away eBooks of his novel American Gods earlier this year ended up selling more books for him in the long run. Ask Radiohead — it turns out that giving people free things actually ends up being amazing promotion!
I've been tempted to buy the Kindle plenty of times, and now that I have the eReader app on my iPhone, I'm looking forward to purchasing and reading eBooks, something I don't do very often. I won't turn my back on "real" books, I just like the option of having another vehicle to get my reading in on. What about you? Like digital music, have you started buying digital books?

Geek crush Joel McHale usually spends Friday nights on The Soup sending up ridiculous reality TV shows, but he made an exception this past Friday, a geeksugar holiday, to take aim at a newsworthy target: The iPhone 3G.
The show satirizes the rollercoaster pricing of the iPhone since its initial launch last July, and may give you a little comic relief if your wallet is the one part of you that doesn't appreciate your slavish gadget worship!
