Can't video game ladies catch a break? It seems like we're usually bemoaning the aggressively curvy forms of female video game characters, but that's not the case with Sony's new game — quite the opposite.
Fat Princess is causing a stir with the figure of its titular character; yes, she's also quite curvy, but not in a Lara Croft way. The object of the game is to capture the princess, who's being made heavier by her enemies, who are feeding her cake (well, at least they're not trying to say she's just "big-boned").
Have we traded objectification of women's bodies for the mockery of obesity? Is there no middle ground of average-looking bodies in the video game world?
On the other hand, is that too harsh, and is Fat Princess merely cute, as the female concept artist herself thought? Is she merely a character who looks a certain way — and if so, then is it the title that's what's really offensive?
Cupcake-master hello_naomi cannot only bake geeky Super Mario and Pacman Cupcakes to perfection, but she has re-created the Space Invaders arcade video game with cupcakes as well!
And if you check out the rest of the pics below, you'll see how she even packaged them in matching black box, black tissue and with black and white ribbon — something Yum would definitely approve of!
Thanks for sharing your decadent cupcakes with us Naomi!
Since the iTunes App Store launched, there are new applications every single day, making me feel like the proverbial kid in a candy store. The myriad categories are only outnumbered by the growing numbers of apps in each. I've highlighted games and the essentials, but you can't count out the educational apps. Whether you have kids and want to supplement their learning or just need refreshers yourself, check out my slideshow of braintastic iPhone apps!
Quite frankly, I'm already over the fact that this exquisite Computer Clutch by Violet May of London is $550. Not like I can afford it or anything, but the fact that a designer is finally creating something that is just as beautiful as the machinery inside it, is worth a rave review from me. A part of the Autumn/Winter 08 collection, this Italian leather silver python clutch comes handcrafted from Spain and features a cotton grossgrain mint green lining. And if you recall, Violet May has a stunning multi-use gold Python Purse for the BlackBerry — another gorgeous piece! If you do decide to splurge for the clutch, it fits 13-inch MacBooks, although more sizes may be added to the collection.
Thankfully a majority of you haven't had any walking while texting incidents, and knock-on-wood, I haven't either. Well in Illinois this past January, a bill was introduced that would ban people from using their cell phones while crossing the street.
"This legislation is not laughable. On the surface it's like, 'Oh wow, what is this?' But it's becoming more and more of a common problem with people haplessly crossing an intersection and almost killing themselves."
Says Ken Dunkin, the representative who introduced the bill. Dunkin also mentioned that there have already been two deaths of two New York City pedestrians who were said to have been walking and texting.
The Chicago Tribune notes how the brain's ability to multitask makes text-walking possible, even though it's a delicate balancing act. I honestly don't know what I'd do if California banned texting while walking, because texting most likely consists of emailing too, which I love doing to and from work!
The name Sloane will always be cool, first because of Ferris Bueller's rad girlfriend, secondly because Sloane Square in London is amazing, and now because Marc Jacobs has created a namesake laptop bag. Full disclosure: I am obsessed with every bag Marc Jacobs designs. The leather is always soft and good quality and the details are fantastic, as you can see with the Sloane's metallic trim and trademark logo lining.
At $290, the Sloane is also a bit cheaper than Marc by Marc's regular leather handbags as well, making this a not-terrible investment!
Dog Not That Into Technology I'm not sure what this dog is responding to: the speaker phone function on this phone, or the voice that's being transmitted from it. Either way, let's just assume we're not going to see him standing in those long lines for the next new iPhone!
