One of my biggest pet peeves is people who recklessly ignore acceptable online etiquette and fail to start their instant messages with a friendly "Hi!"
What I do adore are status updates that let you know if friends are away from their computer and when my chat buddies put up quirky status notes or share the song they are listening to. Do you set status updates on IM, Google Talk, or another chat platform?
You gotta know Homestar Runner, right? Well the Internet sensation and his pal Strong Bad have put out their very own PC and downloadable WiiWare game called Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People! Being released in a series of episodes, the first called "Homestar Ruiner" was released Monday and will cost you 1,000 Wii Points or $9 to download on your PC. You may wonder how HSR can possibly make a video game out of their letter answering, cartoon making, and milk snorting, but since I love Homestar Runner so, so much, I'm totally getting this, no questions asked.
The first episode starts with Strong Bad's plans to beat up Homestar Runner going awry, and somehow ends with an unwanted houseguest ruining his flow. Click through story points and mini-games to progress the episode, and be granted bonus features if you score high enough after the level is through. Did you download it yet? What do you think?
Starting this Friday, August 15 to Saturday, August 23, Neiman Marcus is kicking off its Fall 2008 trend event by showcasing trendy berry-colored fashions — which we all know are so hot right now. And to ring in the berry-goodness, Neiman Marcus will be giving customers who spend $250 or more a gel cell phone case as a free gift with purchase! By the sounds of it, they'll have gel cases that fit a variety of cell phone models, including BlackBerrys and iPhones.
I know exactly what you're thinking. Man, $250 for a free phone case? Pulleease. But if you were planning on doing some shopping already, and you happen to spend $250 Neiman Marcus just make sure you get your fabulous gift — your cell phone will thank you!
Author MaryAnna Donovan offers an honest perspective about the trials and tribulations associated with online dating and discusses all aspects of online dating - from the 50-year old guy pretending he's a 26-year old girl to the serial online stalkers - and dubs it as "The meat market of the millennium." Having tried it herself, she offers advice for those who want to stay in the "cyber-dating game" but ultimately believes that no matter what the staggering stats are, online dating doesn't efficiently meets the needs of today's partner-seeking singles.
I can't say that I've found love online but I know many people that have. My theory is to each his own and if you give it a try and it works — then great! I mean, even in real life you usually have to kiss a few frogs (or date a few sketchy-stalkers) to find your prince, right?! What's your take?
It's a fabulous day when I can flop on my couch at night, turn on the tube, and instead of seeing Vanna Whites and Kelly Kapowskis, I'm rewarded with brainy and beautiful ladies: the geek girls of TV. Whether they were my role models and have since been canceled or are ushering in new traditions of a female archetype, I can't stop watching them (and wanting to be them)! So here they are, in no particular order. . .
When we're out and about, my boyfriend is always telling me to remind him to add such and such movie to his Netflix queue or remember a product name to look up on Google later. Today I'm sending him a link to this article so I can retire from all my "remember this and that" duties. If you haven't heard of it already, Kwiry is the ultimate "free" service that will send you text messages of all the things you want to remember. Not only can you send yourself email reminders, add tasks to your calendar, add a feed to your RSS reader, but you can now add products to your Amazon wishlist and update your Netflix queue, all thanks to Kwiry.
Once you sign-up online, all you have to do is text a message to K-W-I-R-Y (59479) with the name of the service you want and then the name of the product, movie, etc., and Kwiry will do the rest of the work! The only thing I'm a tad skeptic about is providing a website with all of my passwords, but they swear everything is encrypted so I may just have to go with it.
