Oh come on, geeks aren't that hard to figure out; men, maybe. Girls? Definitely. But you don't need a manual to figure out a geek, do you? If you do, here's A Girl's Guide to Dating a Geek ($14), which offers, with its tongue in cheek, how one should go about dating a geek.
I've already told you where to find fellow geeks, and now if you need help in the actual dating of the geek, here it is, I guess.
P.S. Where's the guy's guide for dating a girl geek? They're the ones who need the manuals, in my humble opinion.
I know I've reached a certain amount of stability in my relationship completely based on one gadget: the remote. Though there was a day when I selfishly hoarded the remote like it was the ring and I was Gollum - and totally called out on it by my boyfriend - I am happy to report that today, our remote habits are healthy and egalitarian.
We agree on most TV shows, or we give up the remote when we've just watched something we know the other person doesn't love (I'm not into UFC or Scare Tactics, he can't suffer through reruns of 90210 or Sex and the City). All in all, it works out, but I still remember the days when I was so greedy for the remote (especially pre-TiVo when you had to click around to find something good).
So I've been honest, now it's your turn: Are you a remote hog? And if not — is there a remote hog in your life? Source

This week we got our Hills fix early with episode four airing right before all of MTV's VMA action. Usually what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, but this episode was such an emotional roller-coaster that I can't help but share some details. If your TiVo didn't catch all the action, find the entire episode online here. And if you did watch it, you'll know that there were a ton of tech cameos among drama and tears. Take the quiz below to see how much you remember! And be sure to come back on Tuesday for episode five's tech quiz!
Last week, PetSugar ordered a camera battery from Amazon, and it came in this unnecessarily over-sized box – waaay too big for the size of its contents. It made me kinda sad to see such a waste of space (and materials) for such a small item. So when I saw HP's packaging idea for its newest laptop at a recent unveiling here in San Francisco, I was relieved that at least someone shares my frustration.
Available at your local Wal-Mart for a cool $900, the HP Pavillion dv692 will be sold in its own laptop bag, reducing packaging waste by 97 percent! You'll find the computer on the shelves right in the bag, complete with safety bubbles to prevent damage. And I gotta say — the bag ain't half bad! It's certainly more stylish than some of the others we've seen here. Would you buy a laptop that comes in its own bag, or are you just too picky about your accessories?
I was lucky enough to get invited to the Spore Launch Party which was held at the new (but still under construction) California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park last Thursday. It was the perfect place to hold the release party, as we were surrounded by science and evolution! I can't wait for the facility to open to the public so I can go back and check out all the cool things they have hidden behind those closed doors. Check out my slideshow where I rubbed elbows with the likes of Will Wright and Ocean Quigley — a geek's dream come true!
Guess the celeb who has been keeping her BlackBerry Curve in hiding with a white gel case over the past few months? The paparazzi always manage to capture her and her BB, so this one should be a breeze!
