After spending about 30 minutes updating my firmware, I can tell you that it's a vast improvement! I have all five bars almost everywhere I go in the city, and have noticed faster Internet surfing, faster downloads, and best of all — faster backups to iTunes. Have you updated your iPhone yet?
Don't even read this if you only like to watch a movie or TV show once and then move on! Netflix is launching a competition for the world champion in movie-watching endurance.
Their couch potato contest will take place in NYC's Times Square from October 2-7 and will pit eight people against each other - in front of a giant movie screen - to break the world record of 120 hours and 23 minutes (the current world record).
The eight contestants get to sit in a plexi-glass living room while being served gourmet popcorn (sounds like my kind of night! er, week), and can stretch and move as long as they keep watching. What I really want to know is, what are they watching? A John Hughes marathon I could deal with, but not the Look Who's Talking franchise.
Artist Cynthia Malaran has a thing for vintage geek; she painted this tribute to Apple's failed tablet, the Newton.
This Painted Newton Plaque, just $60, would be an original work of art for your wall (it's part of a limited edition and each piece has a haiku on the back).
It shouldn't really be just a reminder of a failed product, but ultimately tenaciousness; after all, without the Newton (just check out this interface!), would we have the iPhone?
Haute couture expert and beauty retailer Chanel has just unveiled two new retail spaces at Saks Fifth Avenue’s New York Flagship store. Our very own BellaSugar, who was covering all the beauty trends from Fashion Week, had a chance to check out the newly renovated fragrance and beauty counter, which is said to offer customers an "exclusive environment to experience the world of Chanel in an innovative way." Now for the part that interests me — the illuminated manuscript! Bella was excited to tell me about a plastic-looking book they have on display, which showcases the history of Chanel fragrances. What's neat about this "manuscript" is that the pages will turn via a motion detecting sensor; so once you wave your hands over the book, the page appears as if it's actually turning.
They also have a consultation room that features a “Miroir Lumiere” light box mirror, which is a mirror that utilizes modifiable light technology and is able to mimic natural light from day to evening in Spring, Summer and Winter seasons. Pretty geek chic right?
Look no further long-nailed iPhone lovers. TenOne Designs has just released an iPhone/iPod Touch compatible stylus called the PoGo that makes it easier to type and navigate your way around the phone, so you can keep that new manicure and those long nails! How does it work? The PoGo is actually made from materials that will transfer the energy from you to your phone and it's super sensitive, so you can even use it in the Winter months — while wearing gloves! The PoGo stylus comes in cranberry, silver, black and gunmetal and only costs $20.
For some of us, buying a new bag is a big investment, and you want it to match (or at least "go with") the rest of your accessories – including your gadgets. If you're a cohesive color shopper, but can't throw down for that new Gucci, fear not. Make like Louise from the SATC movie and rent it! Renting is becoming as popular and as easy as Netflix, and now it's not only restricted to bags. FromBagsToRiches is offering up a pretty sweet deal: When you rent one of their featured handbags, they'll throw in a color coordinated Nintendo DS for 30 days free of charge!
But it's not only one of Nintendo's awesome colored DS' you'll get for a month (they even have the new metallic rose and silver models), but you'll get a game pack to go along with it. Cause really, what good is the DS without the game? Choose from Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir, Brain Age, Nintendogs, and New Super Mario Bros. to play while you're on the go. A new handbag, a new DS, and a fresh game to play for 30 days? What more can a girl want?
