Do you really have to read gadget blogs every day like I do to recognize that sending money to someone in Nigeria via sites like Craigslist is a terrible idea?
Because you could knock me over with a feather every time I hear another story about someone falling for a Nigerian scam, and this new one, about a women who lost $400,000 to a Nigerian racket, is a real doozie. I mean, she was promised over $20 million dollars if she just helped this stranger in Africa . . . what could go wrong?
Seriously people, you don't have to be up on the latest technology in computers, cell phones, or televisions, but listen to me here: Never send money to a stranger in another country. Never send money to a stranger who contacts you via email, period. If someone is responding to a Craigslist ad you've posted, only deal locally and in person.
You're probably savvy enough as you're reading this blog, so do your less-aware family members a favor and forward this along.
So you had a little too much turkey, gravy and stuffing on Thanksgiving (not to mention all the leftovers you indulged in), and you completely ignored Fit's assessments of how many calories your typical Thanksgiving Day meal contained, which means you've probably gained a few pounds. No biggie, just let your gadget obsession help whip you back into shape. Although it will take some determination, it won't be all that hard, I promise — you just gotta get moving, and cut back on the treats. Click through this slideshow as I show you four gadgets that help you work off that extra weight and get you back to your pre-Thanksgiving Day body. Hey, at least your index finger will get a nice workout.

Be Influenced by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen This Holiday Diane von Furstenberg always knew the woman she wanted to be. But something tells me the enigmatic Olsen sisters are still on their journey for self-discovery. In their New York Times bestseller Influence, which we've been raving about since day one, the sisters take us on a visual journey of people — photographers, designers, artists, writers, icons — who have influenced them. Fab is giving away eight autographed copies of book just in time for the holidays.
Although I already have my Blu-Ray player squared away, I'm kinda excited about this Samsung high-def model instead. What sets the Samsung BD-P2550 aside from others is its features. Not only does it have HDMI, 1080p, 7.1 analog audio outputs, along with Dolby TrueHD decoding capabilities (which translates to amazing video and audio quality), but you can also stream Netflix On Demand movies and Pandora Internet radio right from the player.
Yeah, you can stream Pandora from your Blu-Ray player. Crazy, right? So if you assumed there would be an extra-special price tag to go along with all this "flair," you would be absolutely right. The Samsung BD-P2550 clocks in at $349 from Best Buy (and goes as high as $489 from Amazon), but I'm totally adding this to my Price Protectr list just in case.
An avid iPhone app watch site has reported that Apple has reached a huge milestone — a grand total of 10,000 apps (or thereabouts, they concede).
I certainly feel like I've looked at 10,000 apps and tested out nearly that many, but when it comes down to it, I edit quite harshly on my iPhone. I have honed it down to ones that I absolutely need or love, and get rid of those that are really just novelties and fun for a day.
Even so, I still have about 40 essential apps on my iPhone (and that number looks to increase, since I'm crazy for new cool ones); so share with me — how many do you have?
Why should the reality stars have all the fun? I'm totally exhilarated watching Top Chef; being stressed out during Quickfire and Elimination challenges, and I'm of course thinking. . . I could do that.
So OK, maybe I'm really just good at not burning toast, but the competition part I'm into, so I'm psyched about this Top Chef Download. You get to mix ingredients and flavors, and an animated Padma and Tom will judge your virtual meal.
For Macs only, it's free to try and $20 to buy, and it'll get you through the cold months when this season of TC ends!
