Last week I was overjoyed with the release of Super Paper Mario for the Wii. Now thanks to Joystiq who was hot on the trail of the newly released Bust-a-Move Bash, I can double my Wii fun!
In this puzzle, speed will kill when the colors don't match: it's bash or be bashed. With a whopping eight players total, you can use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck controllers to play this fun puzzle-based game. Great features include 500 levels across five different puzzle areas and ten different characters. Once I pull myself away from Super Paper Mario, I'll for sure give this puzzle a try. Looks like I need to invest in some more Wiimotes first!
Designer Michael Laut has created this Radia Cell Phone, which seems to draw inspiration from glass coasters.
As cellular phones become a standard, the statement they make as a symbol and a fashion accessory has become increasingly important, says the designer. "The Radia phone concept expresses simplicity in form and sophistication in function and user interface. The outer rim, which is made of brushed aluminum makes both a refined professional statement." Apparently, the touch-display is large enough to read and display many types of information, yet small enough to maintain a pocket-sized device. The power button is diagonal from the earpiece speaker and balanced by the microphone which is 180 degrees around the perimeter.
I can't decide if we should add this to the array of concept designs we'll never see, or if its sleekness and tiny size would be enough draw for it to actually get made. One thing's for sure, purse makers would have to adjust cell phone pockets to accommodate its shape.
The geeks at Gizmodo recently reminded us of something we hope everyone knows, but is clearly worth repeating. Don't clean your HDTV with Windex! In fact, the safest bet is to not clean anything with a screen with an alcohol-based cleanser or harsh solvent. Here's more:
That's what happened when some poor schmo sprayed Windex (or any other cleaner) directly onto his flat-panel DLP. The liquid drips down to the bottom of the screen and then creeps back up, sandwiching itself between the screen and the protective plastic. Yeah, fingerprints and smudges happen, but use a soft cloth to wipe 'em away.
Older direct view TV's - These can be cleaned with glass cleaner and a paper towel, but it's best not to make a habit of it. Newer tubes that may contain any special coatings, like an anti-glare coating, should be cleaned with a damp cotton cloth, says Techlore.
Plasma - You should clean the front of the TV with a soft, damp cloth. The use of a mild soap for heavy cleaning is acceptable.
LCD Flat Panel - Caution! Use a slightly damp soft cloth to clean the LCD screen and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use any cleaning solvents, such as glass cleaner or soaps, to clean the LCD screen and do not press hard on the screen as it will damage easily.
Geek tip - Next time you are at the drug or electronics store, pick up a Dust-Off Microfiber Cleaning Cloth for your computer and camera screens. They were designed to effectively clean sensitive surfaces without scratching. Any brand works.
Battlestar Galactica stars Katee Sackhoff and Jamie Bamber showed up at the Grand Slam SciFi Summit last weekend and gave my new favorite magazine, Geeky Monthly, a little extra face time. I know I've said it before, but Battlestar Galactica has a lot of street cred as a geeky, smart and fun Sci-fi show these days. In fact, it seems to attract non-geeks and geeks alike despite being about the end of the world and Cylons.
Of course pointing out that Katee Sackhoff and Jamie Bamber like Geek Monthly, or at least don't mind posing with it, is just my backwards way of saying how much I love it. The magazine is dedicated to anything and everything that geeks love: Toys, Anime, TV shows, Movies, Games and DVDs. According to its website we can expect the lowdown on all sorts of things from the latest apply-to-the-forehead headache cure to how technology is being used in haute cuisine. "You can geek out about just about anything as long as it’s interesting," says Jeff Bond the mag's Editor-in-Chief. We all know that's my motto.
The magazine also caught up with the other stars, including Smallville's Justin Hartley, who quite frankly is just adorable, read more
Before you get discouraged by the price of this luxury Luvaglio laptop, hear me out on some of its bling bling features. This meticulously designed laptop includes a 17" widescreen LED lit screen with integrated cleaning, a slot loading blu-ray drive, solid-state storage, a built-in USB memory stick and mp3 player. The best part is the rare diamond which also doubles as a power button and security ID tool when placed into the laptop. Seems pretty fancy, although I don't know if all these specs equal a million bucks. What are your thoughts? Leave your comments below! image source
A Dyson vacuum is one of those gadgets that elicits an "ohhhhh" and an "awwwww" from everyone that walks by it. Or at least everyone that's walked by geeksugar central in the last week. I attribute the giddy Dyson adulation to the British company's hoity-toity reputation (they make a jaw-dropping $2,000 model), the assertion that Dyson is the "first vacuum cleaner that doesn't lose suction" and the fact that for a vacuum, it's ridiculously good looking.
It frankly isn't fair to compare the Dyson Slim, which is only 15.8 pounds, to my clunky vacuum at home because the Dyson is designed with art and innovation in mind. So, in the spirit of cleaning fun, I decided I should pit the lady killer against an even more unlikely candidate, the iRobot Roomba. For those of you that don't know, I describe the Roomba as a "geeky guy magnet gadget that's cleverly disguised as a vacuum." Seriously, girls may swoon to the Dyson, but guys seem to be pulled by gravity to the Roomba. So how did the sexy, feminine Dyson compare to the more masculine robotic Roomba? Be prepared to be impressed all around.
Yumsugar recently announced that she is going to give her Top Talker - as in the person that leaves the most comments on her site - a cute Yumsugar tee shirt. Because I think it's a great idea and Yum has already wooed me into thinking she's a genius with her cupcakes, I've decided to follow suit.
The person that leaves the most comments during the month of April will be awarded a geeksugar tee shirt from the Sugar Shop.
No need to contact me, just feel free to comment away and let me know what you think of all my stories. I have plenty of geeky ways to tell who has commented the most.
