If you've ever wondered how models and celebrities can appear so picture perfect in magazines you can stop wondering. Beyonce may have looked flawless for her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition photoshoot, but something tells me even she has a little help from the photoshop gods. It's common knowledge that photo editors remove cellulite, erase stretch marks, blur wrinkles, hide pimples, slim, tone, adjust, tweak, lengthen, shorten, lighten, darken and re-touch images before they send them to the press, but what does that transformation look like? Check out this video and witness a woman drop from a size 20 to a size 8 right before your very eyes...all because of Dr. Photoshop...no cutting, tucking, lipo, dieting or exercising required.
I don't know about you, but it's somewhat shocking how quickly an image can be transformed. I'm not opposed to a little digital nip and tuck but being totally altered is not what I'd call a digital enhancement.
Like ultra expensive luxury cell phones, million dollar laptops and gold plated TVs, the market for the world's most expensive MP3 player is still a mystery to me. Of course, that doesn't mean I'm not fascinated that someone out there thinks they need it.
The player, which was created by Lorsch, was cast in 18 karat gold and adorned with 63 diamonds. Besides the gold-and-diamond exterior the i Beat Organix Gold player features a 1GB memory, a stereo FM radio, integrated voice recorder and an ultra-rich price tag of $20,000. In other words, it has half the features of the Insignia 4-Gigabyte MP3 and Video Player, which costs $160, only it's dipped in gold.
I have a tendency to be a bit of a jokester, so when I saw this site on Notcot, I was instantly hooked. Someecards is a hilarious site with wacky, cheeky e-cards about friendship, flirting, holidays, birthdays, thanks and more. Forewarning some of the cards are, how shall I say this, "explicit" in nature? But as far as I'm concerned this is what makes them downright wrong and sooo right! The site has been created by Brook Lundy and Duncan Mitchell, and is designed by Jerry Tamburro. Oh and did I forget to mention that all the cards are free? Hollywood Halo fans like Napoleon Dynamite's Jon Heder, Geoffrey Rush, Aisha Tyler, Dane Cook and Brody Jenner showed up at red carpet sneak peek event for Halo 3 for Xbox 360 this week and got a chance to test out the much-anticipated game. Just like the previous Halo games, Halo 3 is a first-person shooter game. Apparently in this edition Master Chief is back on a thoroughly conquered and Covenant controlled Earth.
The game won't be out until Sep 25, but it is rumored to be the last in the Halo series (the developers made an unofficial announcement) so there is all kinds of buzz about whether or not it will beat out the success of the previous editions. Right now "non-celebrity" beta testers are having a go with the multi-player component of the game. If you can't wait any longer you can pre-order it online.
I have to say, I'm kinda crushing on the geeky guy who asked his mom to cross-stitch the Princess from Super Marios Bros. onto a shirt for him. Sure I've never seen his face, but a guy who goes to such lengths and isn't afraid to tout his geekiness is fine by me. At least I know he'd be into joining me for video game championships. Why did he do it, you might ask? According to his website, he is currently really into embroidery, spends way too much time in front of a computer, has always thought that the grid-pattern on his dress shirt looked like pixels and of course, he really loves Super Mario Bros. Picture this, you're suddenly caught in the rain and completely lost. What do you do? You open your Pileus Internet Umbrella and start singing a little Rihanna. That's what. The umbrella is connected to the Internet and has a large screen on the top surface, a built-in camera, a motion sensor, GPS, and a digital compass. It was started as academic research of Human-Computer Interaction Design at Keio University Okude Lab, but it has turned into a business and the students are working on making it ready for the commercial market. Right now the umbrella provides two main functions outside of the usual water protection: a social photo-sharing device that's pretty to look at and 3D map navigation, so you just have to do a little map search and you're back on track.
The umbrella's 3D map navigation is powered by Google Earth and can share a 3D bird view around the user. Users can walk-through a city comparing the 3D views and the real world around them, and the map is always updated by GPS and a digital compass.
We knew Wii sports was an easy way to workout and burn a few calories, but never expected hospitals to start using the Wii for rehabilitation. According to Edmonton Journal, the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital is the first in North America to use the Wii technology to treat patients with movement and balance issues.
Apparently one patient in particular has progressed from his wheelchair, unable to bend at the waist or pick up things from the floor state and can now stand and play in front of a TV screen, swinging the Wii-mote like a golf club and generally have a rocking good time..
Dr. Grigore Burdea, who is a leader in computer-based virtual reality techniques in rehabilitation therapies, told the paper he thinks in five years every hospital and rehab clinic will have embraced the gaming technology for their patients. Here's more:
"People are addicted to games, but in this case, the addiction is towards a good cause," Burdea said. "Bill Gates (billionaire founder of Microsoft) would be wise to sponsor this kind of research."
