Remember our Geek of the Week Ryan Johns, who managed to fit his entire iPod into a vintage Gameboy case? Well, Etsey user cavco must have been inspired, or at least running on the same frequency when he created his Vintage Gameboy iPod case, which allows you all the joy of putting your iPod in a Gameboy without it having to be there permanently.
"It controls the iPod through the buttons on the front of the Gameboy while keeping the iPod safe inside," says cavco. "The front buttons are wired into a remote control so you can change the song and the volume with the case screwed closed."
The case only costs $30, which is to par with most regular iPod cases, but far more geek chic. Would you buy it?

We may scoff at how much some families pay for their kids' text message bills or the cloudy texting etiquette, or lack there of, which has infiltrated our culture, but at least we have the right to text whatever we want. Apparently, Malaysia's Deputy Minister for Energy, Water and Communications recently announced that mobile phone users caught sending obscene messages and pictures could face prosecution with fines of $15,000 and up to one year in jail.
According to Computerworld Malaysia the issue came up in response to a question in parliament in May, and sadly not a saucy dirty-text message scandal involving the Deputy Minister.
At least I know JT can still text me whatever he wants. Source
Last week I asked you to help me find a couple of unusual, geek chic art pieces to hang in geeksugar central. My criteria was that the items be beautiful, simple, colorful and embody that special "geek chic" aesthetic sense we all love so much. Your finds were awe-inspiring and any of them would look amazing in my office. I suspect the reason I loved them all so much is the fact that I am, as we all know, a giant geek.
My absolute favorite piece was the RetroOnline: Atomic clock that 7bits found. It features a modern, clean, high school science class-inspired design and costs $45. I like it because it's clearly geeky, but it's simple clean and wouldn't be distracting on the wall.
What I love about geek art is that it pops up in unexpected shapes and mediums. LilPeaPod found a bright green Circutboard Art piece, that she notes would add a perfect splash of color to any workspace. 7bits also found a company called dna11, which creates personalized and original abstract art from a sample of your DNA or fingerprints. If that isn't geek chic, I don't know what is.

I knew Pokémon was an international phenomenon, but did you know that All Nippon Airways (ANA) has Pokémon airplanes? Serving both international and domestic flights, Pokémon jets are plastered with tons of Pokémon characters including Celebi, Plusle, Minun, Deoxys, Torchic, Jirachi, Latios, Latias, Pikachu, and the Gonbe. I guess you could say the perfect plane for kids and those who are still young at heart. To check out more pictures, just read more
Whenever I'm in search of a legal Wi-Fi connection, I usually check out Hotspotr, a great site that lists thousands of Wi-Fi cafés all over North America.
For globetrotters or UK natives, you'll be happy to know that the Londonist has created a similar site which displays free Wi-Fi locations on a map of London.
Use this map to find Wi-Fi in all sorts of places including coffee shops, pubs and even bars. And if there's a Wi-Fi location not listed on the map, just leave a comment and the map will be updated with the latest additions.
I wonder if British rocker Pete Doherty would rather chase the paparazzi with his Macbook than sit in a pub surfing the world wide web?! Maybe he still has yet to get the memo about this useful new site.
There usually isn't anything funny about stepping on to a scale, unless it's the celebrity scale that weighs you against Goldie Hawn, John Candy or King Kong, but the Hello Kitty Body Fat Meter is a real hoot. Surprisingly, it looks like the device is more than just pink and cute, as it comes in a set of handy devices and offers illustrations on the monitor that guide you through with the calculation of body fat.
It ships with a D-041-KT device, which is a numeric value health meter, a HA-011-KT to display analog values and the KA-011-KT, which is a cooking scale. The Hello Kitty Body Fat Meter launched June 1, for 6,000 Yen (or $50 USD), but I haven't found a US store that sells it yet. Don't worry, I'll keep looking because somehow the idea of Hello Kitty monitoring my body fat seems less invasive than a doctor or trainer. Or maybe I'll just keep looking because it gives me a good giggle.
