Last week's moment of geek champion the Computer Monster might look at this cute and creative typewriter softie and see lunch, but I see a fun geeky craft project that deserves kudos and a permanent place on a desktop. Its creator, a crafter that goes by the name of blueblythe, says it is modeled after her boyfriend's great-great-grandfather's typewriter. "It took me several weeks of non stop sewing to finish," says blueblythe. "The felt is hand dyed and the details are embroidered. I added some real screws that I tarnished in vinegar. The roller rotates so that a piece of paper can be added with some typed words on it." Source: Craft
Okay, before you get all jazzed about Nikon's latest Coolpix S51c with Wi-Fi, let me forewarn you that the Wi-Fi seems to only work with Nikon's new 'My Picturetown' application — still, imagine how cool it would be if you could send pics via Wi-Fi elsewhere? This hot pink cam, which was featured on Engadget, comes with 8.1 megapixels, a 3-inch LCD and an optical lens shift vibration reduction. Price is approximately $407, or $51 less if you don't get the Wi-Fi feature.
I'm sensing that white is the new cell phone color of choice for a lot of young Hollywood actresses. I'm used to constantly seeing celebs with black BlackBerries, so the summery color change to a white Motorola is unexpected and fun! I just wonder if they'll keep using white gadgets after Labor Day!? Do you know who this is? Leave your guess below!
I sometimes entertain the idea of going on a "gadgetless vacay" — no BlackBerry, no iPod, no iPhone and no laptop. As much as I would love some peace and quiet from my ringing, vibrating and blinking gadgets, I can honestly say that I like being somewhat connected. So when I heard the news that The Grenadines' Palm Island resort had banned the use of mobile phones on one of its beaches, I was totally shocked. Maybe a cell phone free zone, but not allowing guests to use mobiles, laptops or PDAs within a half mile of the resort's beach is a bit over the top. Since when were laptops considered so distractive? I guess if you are looking for an escape from modern technology, this is the place for you. I think I'd be voted off that island in no time. Right after our crash course in dangerously pricey gadgets, Sony showed off its shiny new HD televisions in Japan. The lineup includes 15 Bravia models, which I have a soft spot for, starting at 40-inches up to a glorious 70" Full HD LED-backlit LCD. While it's a series I've always coveted, I can't help but be shocked by the KDL-70X7000 70-incher that costs $34,836. The astronomical number got me to thinking, if money was no object and you wanted an amazing TV, where would you draw the line? Source: Gizmodo
