Last week, I couldn't help but show off Tina Fey's organizational skils and discuss her extensive Star Wars knowledge. On a recent episode of "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", Tina talked about gracing the cover of Geek Monthly, while funny man Conan insisted he is the biggest geek and should have been the cover. When questioned about her 'geekiness,' Fey claimed that she had a collection of Star Wars figures as a kid and while other children were out on dates, she'd be at home taking care of all her action figures. She also confessed that her favorite Star Wars character was Princess Leia and that she's hoping to dress her daughter in a Princess Leia costume for Halloween this year—although it sounds like she isn't having much costume success! Check out the video below. The geek talk runs from 4:28 minutes to 6:40 minutes, although the other parts are funny as well!
If you like gadgets that deliver the goods but aren't covered with buttons and LED lights, this wooden radio/speaker combo may do the trick. Discussed on Geekalerts, this retroesque speaker can connect to your mp3 player and comes with knobs on the top for volume, frequency and switching from AM to FM. There is also an antenna and a power indicator. Each speaker is battery-powered. To check out more up-close images and to purchase, go to The Design Town website. The Compact Wood Radio / Speaker retails for $40, although you are required a minimum order of 5 units. Depending on the sound output, I definitely think this is a total chic electronic device. What are your thoughts?
Japanese video game company Square Enix — the creators of Final Fantasy and the Dragon Quest series, is stepping into new territory by offering new non-games for the Nintendo DS. According to Joystiq, Square Enix now offers DS "Yoga Lessons You Can Start Today," "Flower-Blooming DS Gardening Lite," and "Why Not Listen to Classical Music On DS"? They are also planning to launch a line of travel guides for Italy, Hawaii and New York. As much as I love a good game, these new programs are going to be great!Source
A few weeks ago Giggle was sitting through the eighth 30-minute sitting period in an all day meditation when her phone began to ring. The room was completely silent — save for light breathing — when she heard the phone's first vibration noises and she quickly scrambled across the floor to turn it off.
She was understandably mortified and when she told me the story, I realized it's an incident we've all experienced at one time or another. I got a call once when I was sitting down to a fancy dinner date and while I didn't answer it, my date was totally taken aback and later admitted he thought it was one of my friends calling to offer me an escape route.
Obviously, the fact that we carry our cell phones everywhere with us means we are prone to an awkward call every once in a while, but it's definitely something most of us don't look forward to. Have you ever received a phone call at an embarrassing moment?
Either Kanye West wanted to capture the moment at the Givenchy show in Paris this week or he was trying to impress the ladies with his beautiful Leica camera. Whatever the reason, he is sure to get some high quality pics from this digital camera. The Leica D-LUX 3 10-megapixel camera comes with 4x wide angle optical image stabilized zoom, a high quality lens and can capture pictures with enough detail for 18 x 24-inch prints—so Kanye can blow up this pic of him, Alexis, Courtney and Mario to ginormous proportions. You can purchase this camera from Amazon for $600. Source
Today's guess the gadget is soft, cuddly and can be connected to your laptop or computer. More than just looks, this fuzzy animal is also a handy gadget. Scroll down and click take the quiz to guess what it is!
It's hard to make a case against the cuteness of pink, but is an all pink search engine too much to handle? When rachelface submitted Pinkle as Website of the Day she noted "I love pink, and I love Google, but is this TOO far?" I couldn't agree more.
The site reminds me of Blackle, another custom Google search that shows results in white text with a black background and claims to save energy simply "because the screen is predominantly black." Pinkle doesn't claim any eco benefits, so I suggest only using it when you really need to feel pretty in pink.
