When FabSugar returned from fashion week, she not only shared runway stories but gadgetry goodies as well! Perfect for traveling and event-filled days, this UPB10 Mobile Power Pack by APC is lightweight, sleek and can charge up all your gadgets when you're on the go. With lithium polymer battery cells, you get a higher power density than traditional lithium ion cells for extra power output. This device can charge up gadgets by standard USB and by mini-USB, which I used for my pearl in the pic below. It's fashionable for Fab and functional for Geek, therefore I can't help but give it two thumbs up. Priced at $60 each.
Want an Oven You Can Fold? Scientists in Taiwan have created an oven out of cloth. The lightweight, foldable oven is easily transported and weighs "just a few hundred grams." Although, it does take a lot of power to make it work.
How would you like it if grocery carts had touch screens and barcode scanners that you could use to get nutritional info and environmental impact info from about various foods? The Technology Services Company, EDS, outlined in a recent paper that grocery carts with computer screens would be a practical and cost-effective solution to consumers who like knowing about the foods they consume— even though most said they preferred reading labels directly from the box. Considering the fact that people steal shopping carts minus any high tech trinkets, I can only imagine how crazy thieves would go over these! What do you think about high tech grocery carts? Useful or something you think we can wait for? Source
If you have a gamer friend or boyfriend, you may be able to convince them to massage you with one of these. The "Massage Me Jacket" is basically a game controller inside a vest—yes you can make one yourself. Discussed on Kotaku, this jacket requires two people to use it—the gaming masseur and the person wearing the jacket who receives the back rub. How it works: The neoprene jacket includes pressure-sensitive sensors embedded inside it. These sensors will send signals to a game pad that has been tweaked to work with certain video games. Hey, if it takes a gaming jacket for people to get excited about giving massages, maybe it's not too wacky after all!

We talked about dna11, a company that creates personalized and original abstract art from a sample of your DNA or fingerprints, in the past when talking about geek art, but never pondered the chic factor of the pieces.
Apartment Therapy likes the pieces because they are unique to each person, but I like them because they have a sort of science-inspired flare without being overly geeky or unattractive.
They range in price from about $190 to $790. Do you think they're chic enough that you would have one made with your DNA?
On October 31st, Regis and Kelly will be taking their Halloween spirit to a whole new geeky level—by hosting Live in 3D! Walgreens stores across the country will be offering free 3D glasses at the photo counter so we can all take part in the 3D action and geek out during one of our favorite morning shows. Approximately five million pairs will be given out —sorry only one per person. Watching Live's 3D Halloween Spectacular in three dimensions should be quite interesting—I can't say I've sported red and blue lens glasses for any other show before! I hope this new format doesn't interfere with all the fabulous costume changes—how awesome was it when Gelman dressed up as Britney, snake and all?!
You know when you are stuck on a bus, waiting in line, sitting in a dentist's office or just plain bored? Do you whip out your cell phone or gaming device for distraction? Or maybe you are like LC, who turns to her iPod for music and videos. Whatever the situation, I'm wondering what gadgets people tend to use when they need to kill a few minutes. Depending how much time I need to waste, I usually start on my BlackBerry, sending texts and returning emails and then I move on to my iPhone to watch YouTube videos. I guess you could say it's the business then pleasure method of passing time. What about you? What do you use? Photo courtesy of MTV
