Through online systems like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, stars are campaigning and asking fans to make donations toward their personal creative projects via the Internet. Today, James Franco launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund three individual films based on his book Palo Alto, a series of short stories about his hometown.

He joins the ranks of other celebrities who have turned to such platforms, including Kristen Bell, who raked in a record-breaking $5.7 million for her Kickstarter campaign for the Veronica Mars movie, which she has already started filming. Zach Braff followed suit, crediting Kristen's success for his decision to utilize the site for his latest film project, Wish I Was Here. Mariah Carey wore two different tiny swimsuits while filming in Southern Italy with fellow recording artist Miguel yesterday. The pop icon showed off her fit physique when she shared a photo collage of herself in a black cutout monokini on Twitter with the caption, "Behind the scenes on set with @MiguelUnlimited!! Coming soon." As part of the shoot, Mariah and Miguel went swimming in the blue grotto, off the island of Capri, and hopped on a yacht after climbing out of the water. The duo have been spending time together since collaborating on the song "Beautiful," which was released last month and is a track off Mariah's highly anticipated 13th studio album. The album, the official title of which has yet to be released, will drop July 23.

Much of the hype may be due to Mariah's frequent Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram teases. While she announced the album release date on her personal accounts, Mariah also took to Instagram yesterday to share a personal snap of herself in blue waters with the caption: "A much needed splash after hours pon de mic singing for my beautiful lambily." In the post, she was addressing her fan base and revealed that her new work encompasses "three years of my soul." Mariah has returned to song-making after announcing last month that she will be not be returning for the next season of Fox's American Idol.

Kanye West has stirred up a lot of attention with his candid interview in today's New York Times, in which he talks about his career trajectory and his latest work on his upcoming album, Yeezus — out this Tuesday. The lengthy Kanye interview features the usual laughable remarks from the rapper infused with more than a handful of big-time name-drops, from Michael Jordan and Steve Jobs to Anna Wintour. Reese's homecoming follows the news that she will star in Don't Mess With Texas alongside Sofia Vergara. Reese will produce through her Pacific Standard production company, while Sofia will act as a coproducer. • Amy on her appearance: "I always want to defeat supervillians — it's just the chicken-and-broccoli diet that I'm not into. The married pair made their way casually through the city following Lily's much trendier outing on Monday. Decked out from head to toe in Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's clothing line The Row, Lily hit the red carpet in red shoes for a night of fashion celebration.

While Lily attended her own professional event without her man, she is now by Caleb's side as he gears up to headline the annual Governors Ball concert on Randall's Island in NYC today. The couple and their daughter, Dixie, will then head overseas for the Summer as the Kings of Leon front man kicks off his European tour, which will run through mid-August, in London on Wednesday.

Shakira was out in Miami today with her 4-month-old son, Milan, who eyed a stuffed soccer ball in his mom's arms. Milan's dad and FC Barcelona soccer star, Gerard Piqué, followed closely behind. While Milan appears to already be taking an interest in sports like his athletic father, he could also pick up some serious genes from Shakira. On Saturday, Mensa International released a list of celebrities whose intelligence indexes surpass 139 and revealed that Shakira's IQ of 140 classifies the singer as a genius.

The talented family of three has been maintaining a bicoastal lifestyle as Shakira finishes up mentoring on this season of NBC's The Voice in LA. Although the trio is currently in Miami, they will head back to the West Coast next week, since the Colombian singer has one Voice team member left, NYC native Sasha Allen. She filmed a scene with her costar Taylor Kinney while sipping on a glass of wine and watching the sunset. The romantic setting comes after Cameron and Taylor filmed a kissing scene in NYC on Tuesday while the actress donned a fake baby bump. She's no stranger to kissing scenes as she was seen locking lips inside a sports car with another costar, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, last month. Between steamy scenes for the new romantic comedy, Cameron has also been bumping chests and partaking in onscreen fighting with Leslie Mann, who was on location earlier this week too. The pair shot more friendly scenes and laughed together while holding hands.
