Are You Using an RSS Reader Yet?

Though I dragged my feet a little right before I converted from reading my blogs on their native pages to an RSS Reader, I could never go back. Sure, there are some sites I still enjoy going to and getting the "full experience," but I read almost all my blogs on Google Reader.

I have even found workarounds for stuff like getting the blog design or not leaving Reader to read the comments on a post with Better GReader. I'm a total convert, and I'm always trying to convince my friends who are still reading blogs the old-fashioned way. So are you devoted to RSS too, or are you not ready for the change?

Yes, I use an RSS feed. I've been using Google Reader for a while now, at the suggestion of a prior geeksugar article. It helps me out because then I don't have to remember to check x number of particular sites because Google Reader collects all the info for me. The only thing is that you really have to keep up-to-date with the postings, because I made the mistake of not checking my feed for a few days and now I've gotten so behind that I don't know how I can catch up, cuz I wanna read ALL of the items! lol

After reading this poll and the one after I decided to try RSS! And suddenly... life is so much easier. It's so awesome... No need to refresh and go back to web pages all the time. Thanks!

i have Shrook and love it!! i look at dozens of design/decor sites everyday, so i need my RSS Reader! it took me a long time before i got into it, though. i think it might have to do with age, like macgirl said.

Google Reader has basically changed my life and made me so much more informed about everything from new beauty items, cool video games, awesome events in LA, weekend weather forecasts, daily comics... you get the idea. Plus it saves time and makes it easy to read things at work without everyone noticing you are slacking off. ;)

I started to use the my yahoo rss feeder, but it is not the most user friendly to add your sites too. So, I usually just end up going to the sites.

CrazySexyCool- you might be right about it being an age thing. I find that as I get older I'm starting not to "get" stuff. "Why would I do that? The old way was just fine". I refused to use an RSS reader for a really long time. It wasn't until I had it in my email program that I caved now I find it saves me a ton of time. OK, have to go yell at some kids to turn down their damn rock music ;-)

We are going to far! We need gadgets to use our gadgets now? What happens one day when we wake up, and there are so many layers of abstraction between our lives and the way things 'actually work' that none of us could survive without them? OK that's a bit far considering we are only talking about an RSS reader here. hehehe. But is this the beginning? At first I had an iPod so I could listen to music. Then I added the 32 Gig iPod media player so I could watch movies and TV shows. Then I got the iPhone so I could talk to friends and surf the net. Will my next iUpgrade allow me to be able to just log into iTunes and order an iPizza to be delivered? What happens when the iThing I used to listen to music on becomes my source of iNourishment? Should iI be scared? Or am I just getting old? Excuse me, I must go hurl now...

I use the RSS reader in Apple's Mail.app as well. They come in like emails to my RSS mailbox and I can look at them on my own time. Plus if there is something interesting I can just forward it on to people.

I use Bloglines. I keep trying to get my friends to use an RSS reader but they just don't get how useful it is.

I've tried all sorts of readers (including Google Reader) and always end up coming back to Netvibes. I use that combined with Morning Coffee for my daily internet routine! :)

I've used Google Reader in the past but I just like the feel of the whole experience of being on the actual site and with Morning Coffee its somewhat like the same experience. lol

i used google reader. it saves time, and it looks like *work*, so i can leave the browser open on my desktop, and not worry about my boss seeing it :d

Going with Google Reader, and I only end up readin the stories that interest me on the websites/blogs. Before, when I had things bookmarked, I used to forget to check up on things regularly. Now there are less things to check out. It's so practical to have most things one place.

Tried Google reader and I just ended up going to each of the sites anyway so I stopped.
