Website Mint Manages Your Money and Personal Finances Simply and Securely

Website of the Day: Mint

Updated 07/14/08 10:25 AM · Posted by GeekSugar · 21 comments

I've been looking for a website to manage my finances simply but haven't yet been able to find it. This morning I found Mint, and while it is very simple to use, what it does is blowing my mind.

Add in all your accounts — checking, savings, credit cards — and Mint will track what you're spending and what you owe, compile budgets for you, alert you if anything unusual is going on in your account, etc. It really casts some perspective on what you're spending too — I talk a big game about shopping, but it turns out that I am a Walgreens high roller.

It also compares your cash to your debt and will tell you if your APRs are too high, like a sweet little electronic financial planner. If they added a bill pay and tracking function, it'd be perfect. Also, I was naturally concerned about the security, but after reading this, I'm cool. And did I mention the pretty pie charts?! You want to get a geek all excited, show her a color-coded pie chart.

I came across the same site and when I compared it to what I had with my online baking (Bank of America) I found them to be comparable. Since all of my banking info was already there, I use that! It also enables me to keep track of all of my rewards points through my airline, my preferred hotels etc. Good stuff.

Oh, this site is definitely for me. I've been trying to be responsible with my money, and I think this is a perfect site to help me keep track of my spending and savings, which means it will make being a grown-up easier! :P

Another great site to view and manage all of your online accounts is Pageonce. You can add almost any online account there and they let you know when any important changes happen in your accounts.

I just signed up for this site. Too bad one of my bank accounts doesn't want to be added which sort of sucks but I sent them a help request so hopefully they can help me out.

Yeah, I thought I would like it a lot more than I would but it just wasn't my thing.

Definitely check out Wesabe (http://wesabe.com). It not only helps you keep track of your money, it's also an online community that shares money-saving tips with its members. =) And it's free! @miss mouse, I'm also Canadian and I was able to add my PC Financial account with no problems!

i saw this the other day on msn. they were talking about how great it was and i had to check it out. i'm a lazy bookkeeper though so i'm not sure i would go through the trouble of setting it up. but i love that i have the option. one day when i'm bored and my spending is getting out of control, or i need to start saving more for a major life event i'll give it another look.
im afraid to give them all my info.

I guess I won't be trying Mint, it doesn't support my bank.

They don't have my bank, but that's really cool, I'll have to look into it more.

I just signed up and I love it thus far! I love the comparisons of your shopping habits in comparison to people in your city!
