Do You Own Domain Names?

I check GoDaddy occasionally just to make sure that my full name is still available as a domain, yet I still haven't purchased it — I just don't know exactly what I'd do with it.

Well, if this news story is any indication, I'd better buy it before someone else does: The website Cityfile has started buying the domain names of the people it covers. Not that you have to worry, unless you're apt to being gossiped about on a national level, but the thought that someone else could have yourname.com is enough reason to make me want to finally snatch my own.

I have several, and we often buy them as pressents for our family and friends, and make them a basic site to go on it, that they can play with and change how they want to. I use my name as my main one: http://taliacarbis.com as does my husband- http://lukecarbis.com When we have a kid, one of the first things we do will be buy them their name as a domain, and even if we really like a name, if it's taken as a domain, and they don't want to sell it, we'll pick a new name...

its just my first and middle name.com I had to design a site for my dreamweaver class last year. I've been really bad about updating that thing tho. I should do it soon before I forget everything I learned in that class.

I own my first and last name because when you google my name, you wind up with some BBC reporter. Right now though, typing that in leads to my web portfolio website which I've been dragging my feet at designing. Instead I play at my blog which is a lot more amusing. <3 Less stress!

I registered a family domain that I also used as my wedding site. I occasionally verify my domain registration at http://www.whois.sc Check out http://www.DownDoggy.com in case you're interested in registering your own domain. I trust these guys even though I have a few domains through Down Doggy.

This is quite amusing in a not very amusing way.I didn't own the domain name for my OLD name because I never saw the need to. Then somebody who decided to take up against me because I banned him off an internet forum I used to run registered it and set up a hate site there. :)I am currently studying to be a professional and work in mental health. If any of my clients/service users were to find the site I could lose my job.Hence, I changed my real name by deed poll to prevent anybody from ever finding the hate site started against me. I'd post it up here but I don't want to be traceable through this site either. :)MADNESS!GoDaddy won't remove the hate site against me because even though it says:"Except as set forth below, Go Daddy may also cancel Your use of the Services, after thirty (30) days, if You are using the Services, as determined by Go Daddy in its sole discretion, in association with spam or morally objectionable activities. Morally objectionable activities will include, but not be limited to: activities designed to defame, embarrass, harm, abuse, threaten, slander or harass third parties;"They have told me I need to seek legal backing for them to actually remove the domain. If anybody has any advice then that would be great but it's not really relevant now since I have legally changed my name to something less easily traceable.

I own two: my business domain and my name; my name forwards to my business website. I also setup Google Apps for email addresses at my name domain (e.g. me@name.com)

I own several but have yet to do anything with them. I use one of them for practice when ever I go to Apple camp and learn new fancy server stuff. I just have too much on my plate to get really custom. I mostly just use my mac.com sites.

Yes I do. It's for promoting my photography (although I haven't updated it in awhile :x ) and it started with a web making class for just that! :)

We have many, but we also have a small business and have several websites associated with it. So we buy them and then redirect them to our sites. That way even if you type it wrong it will still find our sites. (hopefully)
