VirtuSphere - Spin Into A New Reality

If you're wondering what the heck is going on in this picture, you're not alone. We all know computer games and communications have left us stuck in our gaming chairs and gaining an extra couple of inches around the waist...but the next step in gaming could take that right off. No, it's not the Wii, it's a VirtuSphere, a giant, human-sized hamster-ball on rollers that stays in one place as it spins.

I don't know how well this will take off. When VR was really hip in the 90s and everyone was predicting that it was going to be the next great thing a VR arcade opened in my home town. The first weekend that it was open they offered a special deal: you could play for as long as you wanted for $10, all you had to do was sign a release stating that you would be their guinea pig. I played Descent w/ VR goggles on for 30 min. When I took the goggles off I stood up and threw up in the wastebasket. Motion sickness is extremely common w/ VR. You're not going to get much of a workout if you can't make it a full half hour without getting sick.
