Vintage Geek: Hand Held Computer (1982)
I was still pretty young when the first laptops and "hand held" computers hit the market, but I remember being thrilled by their miniature size in comparison to my parents' clunker desktop. The Epson hand held HC-20 may look like a clunker to us today, but it was a real hit in its time.

I love the fact that the ad shows the male executive on the phone while the woman, who is presumably his secretary, takes notes. That certainly wouldn't fly as a campaign these days. As for the computer itself, it's a lot larger and clearly less advanced than our current laptops, but not as big as you might expect. To be fair it's a glorified typewriter, what with the tiny screen and all. For more photos, read more
Anyone remember seeing a hand held around your house?
