Designer Prabal Gurung has just previewed the new uniforms he designed for Sephora, and they're a big change from the plain black ensembles you're used to seeing. Now, male "cast members" will have their choice of sleek, black separates with red detailing, and women will be wearing fitted pantsuits with blazers or black trapeze dresses with red accents. The classic palette and sophisticated feel of the new attire is chic, and there's something a little futuristic about the styling, too. All in all, it's a Prabal Guring collection beauty aficionados are sure to see frequently.
We told you luxe is where it's at for tots! Gucci, Lanvin, Stella McCartney, Oscar de la Renta, and Fendi have all extended their design houses to include clothing lines with luxury pieces for pint-sized fashionistas, and it looks like mamas are lapping them up! According to NPD Group Inc. Consumer Tracking Service, Americans spent more than $32 billion on kids clothes last year — with $800 million of that spent on designer kids labels!
Over on Good Morning America this morning, Mary Pflum took an in-depth look at the world of designer kids clothes, interviewing a group of moms and tots about their thoughts on the popular trend. While the girls drooled over the haute couture looks, the moms expressed concern about the lessons the garments teach. One said it becomes hard to teach kids values like "beauty is not determined by a fancy label or a pricey garment," while another said the line between kids and parents becomes blurred when such pieces are so readily available. Do you agree?
Elizabeth Banks will star in the much-anticipated The Hunger Games, out in March, but there's another movie she's been working hard on. The actress and her longtime husband are producing Pitch Perfect together, a comedy about competitive college a cappella. It sounds like an unlikely film for a porno scene, but last night Elizabeth told Jimmy Kimmel that she in fact directed a pornographic scene for the movie. The sexy shoot went down in the background of a scene that takes place in a frat house. Watch Elizabeth Banks explain how exactly it fits into Pitch Perfect, and hear her dish the details of the casting call now.
Tomorrow on Ellen, Ben Flajnik from The Bachelor will sit down to chat about his experience on the often-ridiculous dating show. In this preview clip, we see that Ellen doesn't let Ben off so easy, asking him how he could fall for contestant, model, and this season's mean girl Courtney's games. As an embarrassed Ben laughs nervously, Ellen says, "She may be a lovely person and you’re probably engaged to her but the thing is, the way that it was edited she came off not nice." Ben tried to defend himself, explaining, "I told my mom and my sister before this thing started. I didn’t want the models and the LA . . . and that kind of stuff," but Ellen wasn't buying it. Get a peek at how Ellen tells Ben what everyone else is thinking now.
Last week it was bikini skiing on The Bachelor, and last night the show continued to push the boundaries of what women can do half naked with a new sport . . . bikini spelunking! But the real drama came when a slightly delusional (and probably tipsy) Samantha decided that after three group dates she'd had it — after all, she "should already have a ring on her finger" — and approached Ben with her demands. Not surprisingly, Ben was less than amused, and gave us a brief lesson on how to dump someone with brutal honesty, straightforward reasoning, and firm resolve. We also learned a new phrase from Casey S. after Samantha got the boot, "comin' in hot": when an angry/emotional woman is coming atcha. Watch it now!
Whether you want to highlight your cheeks or make your face look more symmetrical in pictures, a little contouring goes a long way. Smashbox Cosmetics Lead Makeup Artist Lori Taylor shows us how to contour your face using bronzer, blush, and a highlighter, as well as tips she uses to contour the faces of leading ladies like Sandra Bullock and Rosario Dawson.
When we saw Kate Beckinsale crack penis jokes on Conan earlier this week, we knew we had found a new lady crush. And on Chelsea Lately last night, the Underworld star continued to make us laugh as she explained how it came to be that she went from sweet Brit to a latex-wearing badass. Kate joked that it wasn't easy taking on the action-star roles, as she has some unfortunate side effects from the steroids and took some verbal and physical abuse from her Contraband costar Giovanni Ribisi. Check out the hilarious interview now!
Last night hot Shame star Michael Fassbender wasn't shy about his onscreen sex-capades during his interview with David Letterman. While his performance as a sex addict is darkly intense and serious, the Golden-Globe-nominated Irishman lightened the mood right off the bat with a joke about how "hard" it was to shoot full-frontal scenes. Michael also got into some of the details about shooting his convincing three-way sex scene in the film, answering Letterman's question about whether his costars were actresses or possibly ladies of the night. Watch the funny clip now!
As the ladies of The View sit behind a stupendous spread of fried chicken and other Southern comforts, Paula licks strawberry cake off her fingers and pictures of macaroni and cheese grace the background. Walters then forces the queen of Southern cuisine to answer a rather serious question:
This is a cookbook for kids. Obesity is the number one problem for kids today. Everything you have here is enormously fattening. You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast . . . Does it bother you that you are adding to it? No? Not at all?
Stunned, Deen bumbles something about moderation — "you know, we don't eat this every day" — to an unconvinced Walters.
Something about Kate Beckinsale, maybe her proper British accent and mom status, gave us the impression that she's not a fan of dirty jokes — but boy were we wrong! On Conan last night, she addressed Seth Rogen's erection joke at the Golden Globes by saying that she loves penis jokes and getting a jab in about Seth's, ahem, size. But then she took it even further by explaining that joking about genitals runs in the family (even her 13-year-old daughter gets in on the fun), and sharing a hilarious story about a giant fake penis she hid in her mom's luggage en route to the airport. Watch Kate get raunchy now!
