Although Verizon will be ending its upgrade discount programs this month, existing customers who want a new iPhone will get a reprieve. It's been confirmed that Verizon will be honoring its New Every Two credits for eligible customers who wish to purchase a new iPhone.

According to the Verizon iPhone FAQs (and a representative), existing and eligible customers can redeem their credits for an iPhone, even though the program is slated to be axed starting on Jan. 16. Have no fear, your iPhone is near.
