My girl YumSugar turned me on to this USB Absinthe Spoon and I have to say, it might be one of the wackiest USB gadgets I've ever seen. For those of you that aren't foodie or history nerds, absinthe is a strongly alcoholic aperitif made from alcohol and distilled herbs or herbal extracts, chief grand wormwood and green anise. Traditionally, absinthe is poured into a glass over which a specially designed slotted spoon is placed and a cube deposited in the bowl of the spoon. Ice-cold water is poured or dripped over the sugar until the drink is diluted. What better than a USB version of this elite delicacy?
Apparently, the creators of the spoon have been working on the prototype for months and now finally, it's ready to be shared with the world. "We’d like to share this formidable instrument with a few select testers, but we can’t hand these babies out to just anyone," says the official USB Absinthe Spoon website. Absinthe originated in Switzerland as an elixir, however it eventually gained a reputation as dangerously addictive and even a psychoactive drug when the chemical thujone was blamed for most of its deleterious effects. It was later banned and today it is illegal to purchase in the US, but not illegal to drink.

3This is wonderfull. When Im working on my comic this will get my creative juices flowing, litteraly. The funny thing is I just learnt how to make the green fairy lol. It would be great to get one of those spoons to try it out.
4ummmm....when i drank absinthe in europe i was in no state to be on a computer let alone near one. my only question is why you would want any sort of liquid, let alone alcohol near your computer? my first powerbook (R.I.P) died after having water dumped on it twice in college, and more friends than i can count lost every picture, mp3 and file on their computers from drunk friends spilling beer all over the place.
