Tech Dating Blunders

Dating in of itself is quite the challenge, but toss in technology? Well, the situation can get even more complicated and ripe for a few mishaps. Keep a look out for these 10 tech dating blunders to avoid, and you should make through your next relationship unscathed.

• Taking calls at dinner — If your date decides that dinner conversation with you isn't as interesting as a call from his buddy, it's time to get the check and part ways. Passes are given for emergencies of course.
• Spying — Googling your potential lover may be tempting (and I approve for general knowledge), but digitally spying on your boyfriend will only lead to trouble . . . and most likely a breakup.
• Dumping via text . . . or email, or Twitter, or Facebook — Breaking up is hard to do, but please show some respect and hash things out face-to-face instead of dumping someone digitally. So harsh.

• Texting during sex — You may assume it's unthinkable, but a whopping 10 percent of people would text during sex. Don't be one of them.
• Lying on your dating profile — There are legit ways to beef up your online dating profile, but if you add false information, or worse — just flat out lie, it's only a matter of time before you get busted in real life. You have to meet these dates at some point, right?
• Posting TMI on your dating blog — If you're blogging about your dating experiences, there are precautions you should be taking to ensure your dates aren't being "outed" on the Internet. Sloppy blogging about personal info is a no-no.
• Broadcasting your breakup via email — It's one thing to accidentally email your mom a flirtatious note meant for your BF, but sending a "breakup notice" to your entire contact list to explain your upcoming change in relationship status on Facebook isn't just weird, it's incredibly tacky.
• Not calling — Although texting may seem like an easier way to converse in the beginning stages of a relationship (it sure takes the pressure off!), but don't make it a habit. Texting and not calling is a digital deal breaker for most.
• Sending naughty emails at the office — You should already know the basic relationship rules for the workplace, but let this serve as a reminder to keep all incoming and outgoing emails to your significant other clean while at the office. Workplaces have a right to check your email history, and you don't want to be reprimanded for X-rated exchanges.
• Check in slip-ups — Be honest with your dates. If you want to change your plans, say so! But if you lie and say you're sick, then check in at a bar with your girlfriends on Foursquare, you may have a hard time explaining yourself later.
