On Monday, Wired posted a comical story about five gadgets that have been killed by the cell phone, then yesterday amended the post to include even more gadgets that have been tossed aside for the convenience of all-in-one cell features.

This got me wondering if your cell phone has taken the place of your other gadgets? I know that my iPhone has inadvertently replaced several on this list, but there are a few I can't live without (hello, proper digital camera!). Has your smartphone replaced any of your other beloved gadgets?

Too bad selecting more than one option wasn't available. My iPhone's replaced the need for an mp3 player (thanks to Pandora!
), an alarm clock, a calculator, a dictionary...and a land line. And
when needed a camera. lol My cell phones are usually my lifeline.
1I now use my iPhone instead of my older ipod classic that i got a while ago.
2I will never ever use a cell phone as a camera. I don't mind having it on there because sometimes it comes in handy but I love having a camera. I also don't like phones with MP3 players in them. Too much stuff for me.
I use my Blackjack 2 as an alarm clock now. I haven't had a land line in years.
3I put MP3 player, but my iPhone has also replaced my landline phone, calculator, weather forecast, and news. It is truly my lifeline now.
4there' should be an "all of the above" choice!
5everything except a landline and digital camera.
6it should let us select more than one
my phone's replaced a landline, calculator,
alarm clock, watch, and that little notebook i carry around for reminders (calendar & notes functions).
7My iPhone has replaced my DS, iPod, GPS, calculator and alarm clock. I do still use my iPod Nano when I work out (all the arm band cases for iPhone SUCK!) and I'm a total photo geek, so, it could never replace my SLR, but my iPhone is all I have to carry around on a day to day basis.
8i love my smartphone because it does all kinds of awesome things like gives me gps and web browsing and email on the go. but it will not replace most of the other gadgets i already have. i won't give up my personal gaming gadget (ds lite) because i like the wireless comp with my friends who also have ds lites. i use my phone as a second alarm clock because i need two! i require a real digital camera because the camera phone is not the bizness. i do appreciate the calculator and land line replacement though.
9all of the above.. lol.. alarm, games, landline, camera, music.... whole shebang.
10Between my cell phone, laptop, and ipod touch. I don't need anything else. A landline is a waste of money and I wouldn't cry if my tv disappeared either. I guess digital cameras are still good.
11i have been using the iphone most of this year, but even before that, my mobile phone has replaced my alarm clock, mp3 player, and land line phone. I still have my land line, and mp3 player, but they are not used as much now.
i still need to use my camera cos the iphone does not have a quality one.
however i still have my games console etc nothing can totally replace that! hehe...
12How about "all of the above" ??
13Everything except a digital camera.
14My N95 has replaced my calculator, camera and GPS system.
15ALL OF THE ABOVE!!
My phone has the uses of everything. And even a gaming console cuz since I dont have a Wii and wanted to try out MySims, I just downloaded it to my phone and play it on there instead!
Plus, it's way easier to carry around one item instead of seven. Really, its just common sense to combine everythign into one.
16I voted land line, but it's also replaced my alarm clock as well. I know my phone has GPS, but I haven't used it yet...
17I think I will always want a digital camera because the ones on phones just don't even compare.
18there should be an I don't have a smart phone option for us (losers/outcasts/ can't afford) who don't have one...
19I would never give up an actual camera. My phone pics are all freakin' fuzzy.
20Land line, calculator, and my day planner. Which isn't a gadget, but it's pretty awesome not having to carry it around anymore.
21The only time I've used an actual calculator as opposed to the one on my phone in the past few years have been when I needed my TI-83 for Statistics... maybe the smart phone will replace those too? lol, doubtful.
22Land line. I solely rely on my cellphone for phone calls.
23Nearly all of the above. I doubt that the camera in my phone will ever be enough to replace even my everyday camera, let alone my husbands SLR. If it could replace my little Canon without adding any bulk I would be all over it.
24almost all of the above but most of the time, calculator and alarm clock
25calculator: even my college profs tells us to bring out our cellphones to calculate something ^_^
alarm clock: i swear it's more effective than a regular alarm clock (in my opinion haha)
Camera, Land Line, Calculator, Clock/Watch. I carry a GOOD camera with me if I want good pictures, but usually I'll just whip out my cell phone if I just want to capture an image of something I see while out shopping that I want to show my husband before buying. As for the alarm clock, I have four alarms preset on my phone with adjustable volume and customizable tones. How many clocks can do that? And of those that can, how many are all that affordable?
26Yeah, how about an option for multiple offenses!
I definitely tote my iPod around less now that I have an iPhone. I'm also less concerned with making sure I have camera with me.
27I still tend to use my alarm clock in addition to alarms on my phone.
Yes!
28I forget that I have an iPod nano since I got my new phone!
