PlayStation Phone Xperia Play
The PlayStation Phone: Love It or Leave It?
If you thought the PSP couldn't get any smaller after the introduction of the PSP Go, you have been mistaken. Called the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (also fondly dubbed the PlayStation Phone), this handset lets you play some of your favorite PlayStation games and make calls to your fellow game lovers. Want to know what's inside? Find out, and tell us what you think about it, after the break.
According to Engadget, this device will be coming with a four-inch multitouch screen, a pair of cameras (5MP rear-facing and VGA forward-facing), and an Android operating system. The Xperia is stocked with all the PSP goodies you know and love — left and right bumpers, along with a Dualshock-like gamepad under the slide-out screen. One thing you will notice is the absence of the controller sticks, which are replaced on the Xperia with circular touchpads. So far all signs point to awkward gameplay (since the gamepad is smaller than the PSP Go), and it could stand to be thicker in order to sit comfortably in your hands. Of course, if it was any bigger, you might as well get yourself a PSP Go and skip the console/phone hybrid altogether.
There are no details on price, release date, or how games will be downloaded (or even how much those will cost), but seeing as how the Xperia is operational, it shouldn't be too long before we see an announcement. I love taking games on the go, but personally, I'm a little underwhelmed and find the Xperia as unappealing as the PSP Go before it. What do you guys think?
