For all my geeks who tool around in their own car (your girl geeksugar is a public-transportation dependent) and live in a city, this might be the perfect gadget. You set this Parking Meter Alarm when you park your car and it counts down the time you've put money in the meter for — and it'll beep at five-minute intervals when it's about to run out, so you can be ticket free.

It even holds a stack of quarters for the meter! But is it something you could do on your own? If I drove, I know I'd have it, and I'd also have no qualms about letting a robot park my car!

Gorgeous
I think its a good idea, but probably weighs a ton
1Restoration Hardware was selling this as a stocking stuffer a few Christmas' ago. I bought one for my brother.
2o man, i've gotten so many parking tickets in philly (luckily the bf paid them. hehe) but i could def. use this!
3Love it
4dqsgirlxo, Haha have you seen that new Parking Authority show, it comes on A&E it's called "Parking Wars", it's based in Philly and is hilarious!
I think this is a great idea, as long as it's not too bulky and you can just keep it in your car if you don't park at meters too often!
5great idea . I want one. maybe geeksugar could give them out as a contest. lol
6This is a great idea. I don't live in a city that uses parking meters, but if I did I know I'd have parking tickets galore, I am that forgetful! And to have something hold my quarters in a neat little container, instead of in my wallet where I'd have to dig and sort and probably spend the last minutes of my meter time trying to locate enough, is a definite plus!!!
7Ok, I admit it--it's the quarter holder that sold me on this.
8I do love it, but I doubt I'd ever remember to use it.
I would love this. I have to park at a meeter when I am at my office and sometimes I forget to put more money in. This would save me $15 tickets!
9oohhh what a cute idea!
10Can’t remember the last time I used a meter so I don’t really have any use for this, but what a great idea! Definitely one of those: Wish I Thought of It inventions. LOVE that it has quarter storage.
11I want this!
12heart!
13yay geek - who uses public transportation!!!
14I love it! However, I wouldn't clip it to my car keys because they proved a few years back that heavy key chains can pull the key around while it's in the ignition and damage the starting mechanism.
However -- I tend to keep a lot of functional key chains clipped a belt clip that I keep on my purse, messenger bag, or belt loop, depending on the situation, and I would DEFINITELY have one of these with me at all times. VERY useful and definitely a way to save money as I always take MUCH longer in the store than I think I will!
tdamji - I'm with you
Unfortunately, there is literally NO public transportation in
my county, or even within two counties. There is ONE and only one taxi in the next county over, but they are hella expensive. *sigh* I long to live in England where public transportation is
the norm and I can stop feeling guilty every time I buy gas.
15it's better then a ticket!
16I think it's a cool idea, but speaking as someone who's messed up her ignition by having too many heavy things attached to her car keys...I'll just set my phone and keep quarters in my purse
17i definitely need one of those.
18Sure it's a sort of silly superfluous gadget, but it actually makes a lot of sense!
19I soneed to buy this for my friends and family. We live in SF and between not finding change and forgetten what time it was this is going to be a life saver.
