With word that I'll soon be able to connect to my Slingbox via my iPhone, I feel like I'll have the world in the palm of my hand. I mean, first TiVo apps, then Netflix and now Slingbox? I'll be a one stop media shop. Then reality hit in the form of a news release: the older (read: my) Slingbox models (including the Slingbox AV, and Tuner) won't be compatible with the new technology that comes along with the iPhone Sling app.

Not all hope is lost though. Sling is offering a $50 rebate for you to upgrade from your old box to one of the new models including the Slingbox Pro, Slingbox Pro-HD, or Slingbox Solo, which will easily and happily connect to your Slingbox iPhone apps. So soon, you can set, record, and watch your TV shows from anywhere, even on your iPhone. Awesome.

Booooo Hisssss not happy about this at all!!
1$50 instant rebate - $20 or so for the iphone app = Not enough to get me to buy a new Slingbox.
2if it works more stable then yes.
3Even with the $50 rebate, you can find the hardware cheaper at Amazon. So it isn't much of a rebate since $ling overpriced their box by $50. I suggest checking out the Hava hardware. They are a direct competitor but plan to give away their iPhone app, when it is released, for free.
