New iPad Mini Pictures

After months of speculation, Apple announced the iPad Mini today at the California Theatre in San Jose, CA. With a 7.9-inch display size, the iPad can finally be held in one hand — compared to the full-size iPad 9.7-inch display — and weighs 0.68 pounds.

It uses the same 1024-by-768-pixel resolution as the iPad 2, as well as the same A5 processor. Apple touts a 10-hour battery life in the iPad Mini, in addition to LTE wireless, an HD FaceTime camera, and a new Lightning connector. The latest addition to the iPad family comes in 16GB ($329 WiFi only, $459 WiFi + data), 32GB ($429 WiFi only, $559 WiFi + data), and 64GB ($529 WiFi only, $659 WiFi + data) models in black or white. Available for preorder starting this Friday, Oct. 26, and WiFi versions ship Nov. 2. Here's a first look at the new paperback-size iPad mini.
